I officially now realize that I do not know anything about american rhythm... at the virginia comp they are having the following dances which you can compete in... I was unaware they were competitional... if anyone has a syllabus for these I would greatly appreciate it... the dances are american samba, merengue, west coast swing, american paso, hustle, and salsa... ????????
Lost and confused,

Only for over 50yrs...... in addition, Intern.style does not include Merg... WCS... Salsa and Hustle in its Latin section ( salsa and hustle/disco , are treated as separate entities )
The syllabi can be obtained thru several sources ( check the internet ).. ALL the American Soc. have virtually the same variations thru Bronze level ( including the Chain schools ) Silver has variances , but still much similarity .

Don't think TT was referring to age 50+, but rather those dances been included in the American division for that long.
NDCA rulebook has the syllabus for American including merengue, hustle, Amer Samba, West Coast Swing, etc (scroll towards the bottom): http://www.ndca.org/information/rules/Rulebook-Master-January2009.htm#TOC2_5

Heh, yeah, I've seen American paso, kinda amusing. :)
For syllabus salsa, pretty sure FA and AM both have syllabi (KNOW FA does), sure there is probably at least one other recognized syllabus out there.
Err, assumign there that this is an ndca comp. If this is collegiate, then, as usual, I don't know what I'm talking about. :)

Tone Jacobson just told me that, in pro standard, Igor Litninov team was the 1st and Tone's team was the second out of 13 teams. I couldn't remeber the rest but I guess this info is beter than nothing.

results and dancing in smooth and rhythm went very well, can't complain about the latin either, standard was somewhat disappointing, though not bad WRT both the dancing and the marks...sorry I was unable to make any reports...I danced alot day and night, so I saw nothing of the higher level events other than a mandate to watch the standard basics which was lovely ...exhuasted...and unlikely to be anywhere near normal for a few days...did see syncopationator and nik both of whom were wonderful to watch...can't seem to remember anyone else at the moment...need a long nap and or/a sip of the booze that i brought for joe and never got to give him...very bummed about that...sigh...

Glad to hear it went well fasc. And no worries, I saw your heat list. I definitely didn't expect you to dance that much and be coherent for results on other events. :) Was just curious to hear about your events.
I suggest drink, then nap. No need to choose one or other. :)

I left shortly after dancing on sat nite, came back really late (around 2am) and they were just wrapping up the Open Rhythm awards. From what I saw in the lineup:
1st Decho and Bree
2nd Ilya and Amanda
3rd Marat and Kristina
4th Joe and Leissa
Standard I just saw Litvinov proudly walking around with his medal still on so I'm assuming he won :)
