Hey everyone :D

Maybe i'm lucky because i work at a desk and can access the internet with restriction, but i'm in dire need of some stimulating salsa conversation/inspiration

This forum is great and it's the best one i've come across with the friendliest people...but i wish that there were more posts during the day - i need my salsa fix, don't you people realise that

haha, maybe you all have more important things to do that discuss salsa...

yours in anticipation !

More important? No.

But more mandatory/required? Unfortunately! :(

Off to campus for the day... :?

WEPA... Well, if you want to get a fix, go through my listing of posts, there is something like a 1000... I enjoy writing about salsa, and reading about it as well... Or you can always come out and ask anything you want and direct it my way, or simply as a new thread and I'll answer it through out the day for you... :D

We can trade notes about salsa all day long. :D :D Wait, are you in the same time zone as me?

I agree with you, Dan!

But right now I can't think of anything interesting to start a thread :( .....

See if you can come up with something (that havn't already been covered in archives) to get us started...... :D !

Salsa fix, anyone  .......?

Well, we do have to work as well. Plus I' doing some other stuff as well. I'm working on a dance events calendar for my local area. In addition I'm working on calling out reuda moves for a performance that my group is doing first weekend of June. Oh, yes I also have to squeeze in time for another choreography that I'm participating in for jump swing, same weekend.

Since you are new I would suggest that you go through the old threads. There are many topics that have been discussed, almost anything that you can imagine!! We have talked about the different salsa styles(LA, cuban, on1, on2, on3, on5, rueda), differences between the club and ballroom latin styles, history of the various dances, favourite moves, how many moves are necessary to have in one's repertoire, latin/hip/cuban motion, particular moves such as Suzy Q, shines, salsa internet and radio stations, dancing etiquiette, favorite salsa CDs, salsa to world music....

Since you are asking for more salsa activity I put the ball in your court to come up with things that you want to know more about to ask us.

Have you done rueda before? If not you should try it out. It is lots of fun.

just in from night out in London ! Not a salsa club this time, just a boring old pub...it's funny how the things i previously found normal now carry little excitement for me.

thanks for replying by the way

I've been reading through the 9 pages of threads with plenty of eagerness believe me and there are still some i have yet to read ! Even printed out plenty of them to read when away from the old computer :)

i don't really want to post beginner questions on here before checking through all the posts, as i know from another forum (non-salsa, which i've been a member for nearly a year) that it can be a little annoying when old posts aren't checked before questions asked

Is there a thread going introducing each member of the forum (ie age, location etc.) ?

I haven't come across rueda yet - to be honest, i'm coming across so much information it's a little daunting. I guess with time it'll all just fit in place.

Buying my ticket for 'The 3rd UK International Salsa Congress 2004' on 24-27 September soon, which is something to look forward to. Hopefully by then i can string together a few moves and be able to lead a lady well enough :P

anyway...hope you're all out partying right now. i turned 28 recently and i need my beauty sleep

This is why we have the search functionality on our forums. If you are interested about a particular topic just do a search for it. If you don't find it then we haven't talked about it yet. If by mistake you bring up a topic we already have discussed you probably will just be pointed to the old thread by members.

There really isn't one particular thread with member introductions. There is a thread on posting names, that is how we all came up with our names, then "getting to know you" threads where people have shared some of their likes and dislikes. As part of our membership profile you can put your location and interests, which quite a few members have done. :)

Taking it easy this weekend. Got to catch up on some of my other work.

There are no particular member introduction threads. Maybe we shoulda thought of that, because several members have started their own over the past months. And, to make it bad, the titles don't always reflect the contents, so you kinda have to know what you're looking for. There are a bunch more, but here are some samples of older ones:

So I have a few questions (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=728)

How old are you? (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=569)

When's your birthday (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=1487)

What do you guys do for a living (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=786)

A quick question (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=1976)

Currently, there are three threads running (in dancers anonymous, I think. Getting to know you, getting to know you part II, and getting to know you part III. Enjoy "getting to know" a little more about some fellow DF members. 8) :D

And welcome. btw, DF is busiest right in the middle of the workday US time, which puts it afternoon or early evening for you. It's a wonder these people don't get fired. I can't imagine how anyone is actually getting any work done. LOL!

Tsk!! Tsk!! Middle of the workday means we all are at lunch. How can you ever imagine we are doing df during our worktime!!

LOL! Than how come it's busy from 8 to 5? That's a mighty long lunch hour!

Actually, it is busiest lunchtime US time, from about 11 AM to 2 PM Eastern (3PM to 6 PM GMT, during Daylight savings time)

We all need to take breaks from our work. However, when we are at home we don't need to take breaks from what we are doing. I guess that's why they call it work! :)

Hi dan_gines!
How could you put the words "boring " and "pub" in the same sentence?(Beer lover, feelings hurt  )
Just kidding! Certainly the action at a salsa club is wilder than a pub, any day!

There's sometimes another busy period aruond 6PM to 9PM Eastern, 10 PM to 1AM GMT, Sunday through Thursday nights. I'm not sure why that one happens some nights and not others. I guess that is kind of late for Europe, unless you're an IRU member. :?

pygmalion
05-16-2004, 07:54 AM
I know! We need to just get more people from Europe to join and start posting. Sound good?

I was just kidding, sort of, but I do think that more European members would help. There's a lot more posting in the middle of my night than there used to be, and I think it's because the European representation is much higher than it used to be.

Wouldn't it be nice if, eventually, we had a 24-hour-a-day busy period? 8)

only 5 hours until my next salsa class, haha...the most frustrating thing for me so far has been that i've been too broke to buy some music to listen to !

However, this will all change tomorrow...and Amazon had better be ready for me
