I really didn't think I'd need to see a doc but I'm wondering if I do have one of those conditions...

Starting on Tuesday (it is now Friday) I had pain while walking, and have been limping to varying degrees ever since. I didn't wear new shoes, or do anything out of the ordinary in the days preceding the pain.

The ball of my foot seems sore (though not really swollen; I can still wear my normal shoes), and when I walk and the toes flex as my heel rises off the floor, it hurts on TOP of the foot as well as the ball.

Anybody have experience with this? I can just see myself going to my general practitioner and having her say "ice it, stay off it, take ibuprofen." Meh!

Thanks,
Melissa

Hey Melissa-

Can you get your doctor to recommend an orthopedist or a podiatrist? Or maybe you can make an appointment with a specialist yourself?

Injuries seem to be going around. I hurt my foot the other day practicing choreography for the show I'm doing in non-dance shoes. Bright boy!

Genesius -- are you able to dance on it?

Ugh, I have to pay a copay for my primary doc to REFER me, THEN pay a copay to the specialist ... and I bet I won't even be able to see anyone for at least a week.

A weekend without dancing? UNHEARD OF!

I can dance on it--it hurts, but I don't have a choice. Have to do the show.

Copayments sound ugly. Maybe you can just ice it for a day or so and see where it leads. Hope you feel better, Mel!

:-{

I just made a doctor's appointment for tomorrow morning -- $20 to tell me ice it, don't dance, and perhaps refer me to a specialist.

Pardon my French, but ... Poop!!

I hope your foot gets better too, Genesius ... especially by your performance date.

Yeah the upper outside edge of my left instep has been really hurting since last weekend... heck, the pressure of pulling on a pair of sneakers even hurts... and then last night I tweaked my right ankle too... really painful to even take wait on after even one dance... :(

Um, I believe that would be "merde"!

Thanks for the good wishes, Mel, it's actually pretty well healed except when I just wake up. Had a major movement/improv audition for a new production of Animal Farm today, and I didn't have any trouble.

My best wishes to your foot, kid!

Cheers,

Genesius

hehe - I took 7 years of French. Poop is just more fun to say. ;-)

So no dancing last night -- I felt completely lost. *sigh* Can't tonight either, but X-ray says no fracture, so hopefully resting it this week will do it.

Yeah. I have the same set-up. $15 copay to see the GP and get a referral, then $25 for every visit to a specialist, in my case, an opthalmologist. The only exception to the excessive co-pays? Pregnancy. Then, you pay only for the referral to an OB, but no co-pays after. Ummm. SO not worth it. I'll pay the co-pays any day of the week!

Anyone ever try acupressure or acupuncture? Former works wonders for muscle ailments, the latter for serious pain & desensitizes nerves.

Best advice is to stay off of it until it feels better!
