I am a 24 year old male who just finished graduate school. I just moved back home this past weekend to continue my work with my small business consulting and training untill a job comes through via one of my several applications currently under review. In the mean time while playing the waiting game I really want to pursue a side passion of mine which is to take lessons in hip-hop dance.

I am not exactly floating in money since I just got done with my MS degree and literaly just got on my feet with my temporary job as a fitness consultant and contest prep coach. Its enought to get by on by not for a long period of time. I have found a few local dance schools but the rates are just beyond what I can afford.

I do not want to let finances get in the way of this unique opprotunity I have to dedicate some solid time and effort into learning this appealing form of dance. How could I go about getting lessons from a qualified instructor and yet not have to pay top dollar to make it happen? I could come up with somthing, I dont mean to get free lessons of course. I am also willing to barter my own services as sports nutritionist and fitness consultant/strength and conditioning specialist in return for lessons in dance. Money is not always the say all be all as they say!

Welcome to Dance Forums, oregonpanthers! We may have some hip hop dancers, though most of our members are partner dancers. You might check out our sister forum www.danceforums.net (http://www.danceforums.net).

Are you currently looking for private instruction? Maybe you could look for group classes instead? Or maybe get together with a few others and arrange for an instructor to teach your mini-group?

Welcome to DF! While I have no suggestions, hope you can find a way to start dance lessons. Be sure to ask about any group lessons, its the way to get started at the lowest cost.

I agree with Rick, If your not familiar with what your getting yourself into, it's best to try group classes
first, plus you could get help outside of them for free from some of the students, so there's a big benefit.

Mainly do privates, when you can afford it or to fix your technique.
