Hello all,

I'm in a major rut here. I'll be holding my wedding dinner in 3 weeks and am facing a major problem in looking for song suitable for ballroom dancing. I have completely NO dance experience but as my mother and some of her friend are picking it up, she suggested that i should have a dance floor in during my wedding dinner.

I'm fine with the dance floor and stuff but the problem is my mother's song selection, they are either cover versions with completely makes me regret even agreeing to the dance floor in the first place.

So now here i am seeking the wisdom from the pros. What songs would be suitable for dancing to in a wedding ? i could use a full list of suggestions. from what i know, my mom kinda dances cha-cha and waltz. no idea what other type of dancing she does.

Help from you guys will be DEEPLY appreciated.

Hola bunor and welcome!

Now i'm not a ballroom dancer .. but there are many people here that sure will provide u with many excellent selections.. yet, for some reason when reading your post the album of the classic movie 'Dirty Dancing' came to mind.. i think i'd play quite a number of the songs in this album if it was my wedding :) .. u know.. songs like 'The Time of My Life'... 'Hungry Eyes' ... 'Johny's Mambo' ... and a number of others in the album that i cant remeber the name of .. but they were great to my taste.. :P

hope that makes at least one good selection for u as a start. Cheers, congrats and goodluck :D

Hi bunor. Welcome and congratulations. :D

There are quite a few web sites out there that list wedding music. A couple are posted in an older DF thread here.

http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=1507

And here's an interesting topic -- what wedding dance should couples learn?

There's a lot more information out there on the web. I seem to remember seeing a coupld really comprehensive listings. Hmm. I wonder if I can google and find them again. Will try.

Good luck. 8)

The music choices for a wedding will depend so much on the wedding couple and their own tastes, so I think it's hard to make actual recommendations. But you certainly want more than a couple of Slow Waltz and Rumba numbers because they are slow and romantic and allow couples to just engage in slow dancing if they don't know how to dance.

If you want to see lists of possible music you might want to visit my dance music site (http://www.dancesportmusic.com/).

Hi Bunor, how did the wedding dinner go. Three weeks from mid May would have been beginning June  or are you still on your honeymoon
