hi so how do i go about telling my other dance partner i dont intend on taking private classes with her anymore without damaging our friendship? she and i have a bigger height difference and i find that her personality is a little more demanding when we practice. she also doesn't seem to have the physicality to perform the jive kicks properly and yet she always insists on telling me how to do it. it can get annoying. having her as a friend is fine though.

i have a much better time with my other partner. we also compliment each other better in height so dancing with her is more enjoyable.

mebbe something like "i've decided to just focus on one partnership, and so going forward will only be taking lessons & practicing with my other partner. it's just time to narrow my focus. i hope you understand -- i enjoy our friendship very much!"

in your own words, of course....

You should just be honest with her about the reasons you want to your end your partnership. There is nothing offensive about them unless she chooses to be offended. But what can you do? You should focus on the partnership you will get more out of. Why did you have two at one time, though? You were bound to end up preferring one over the other.

personally, I don't think she needs to hear the details of why he prefers the other partner...compare it to how one might end a romantic relationship. I wouldn't go beyond "we don't have quite the chemistry I'm looking for" in giving specifics (unless there is a pattern of antagonism and lack of cooperation or mutual respect to point out), because that really is the bottom line. anything more than that is besides the point and could easily get into territory that elicits the hurt feelings the OP wants to avoid. IMO...

Don't listen to me. Clearly, I do not think rationally when it comes to the opposite sex. lol

LoL...well, we all have our muddled moments, WW. ;)

do they see each other? maybe she's already aware you are interested in practicing with the other girl more? so really no need for words?

Wish I had that problem. :)

Yeah, not often someone complains about too many partners. :P

If you actually had that problem, you might wish instead for the problem of having no partners. "The grass is always greener on the other side."

Managing recurring interactions with multiple people who have each adopted expectations for future interactions, can be tricky.

I think this was a good question.
