Hi All

This is a cry of desperation. . . . . .it looks like I could be posted to Afghanistan.

Does anyone know any Diplomatic, Miliary or UN people trapped out there who are dancers?

No clue, Albanaich, but you might be surprised where dance turns up. I recall a tv show about life aboard the US Navy carriers. One segment feature a group of sailors practicing during downtime on the elevators. I think they were dancing swing, likely Lindy. It was a regular activity for the group.

Hope you find some dance activity where ever you wind up.

I wish you Godspeed and safety. My brother-in-laws did two tours and my surrogate son is a dancer who was also posted there. He ended up teaching (although not a "pro") the club dances, which then turned into their own "DWTS" at the post. He said it was hysterical good fun, especially the so called judges. You never know what you might start - to ease the passing of time until your return home. Wishing you safe journey.

Was definitely dancing on base at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait. Steppin, swing, and latin nights (salsa/merengue/bachata) off top of my head, and believe there was others too

Been there, done that! Depending on where you are, it can vary.

I'd recommend you start your own "Dance group" as a part of a "Morale, welfare, and Rec" Activity. You may even get unit/base support for it.
