Im doing it for my exam, and the teacher told me to have more hip action, but she didnt tell me how, and i was wondering if you had any advice for hip action, or just general tips in the jive?? Thanks! x

The best I was able to figure it out is that your hips move as allowed by the weight changes derived through the footwork and steps. If one is to get specific, then that the action is best described as a pendulum-like action with the hips swinging from one side to the other.

I found this to be quite helpful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uxsf4oeLkgg ( and in fact, it's where I got the 'Pendulum-like Motion' from).

I do believe that the "current style" is to not have as much hip movement as in the past and have more emphasis on the up-&-down quality of Jive ala a rising action on the 3 (if memory serves me correct). I could be wrong on that, however.
