Hey I'm new here and I was just wondering if anyone here's been on a formation team? I think it's one of my favorite parts of ballroom dance. Also, has anyone been to the United States Dancesport Championships held at BYU in Utah?

I was on a non-competitive formation team and it was tons of fun. Our choreography was really cool, we switched partners four or five times during the routine and we segued between all the Smooth dances. I'd love to do it again sometime.

Hey Katie--welcome to DF!
Some formation teams I've seen can be quite impressive. Where do you dance? And what do you compete in?

Welcome kwa455. What do you like about formation dancing? I have never done it, rueda (salsa) is the closest I have ever got to it   but, I can imagine it is really good fun

Here in Utah, a lot of high schools have competitive formation teams. I was just on Pleasant Grove High's team, but I'm thinking of switching over to BYU's youth team or another private studio Dancesport Utah w/Ray Backlund as a coach. Formation teams are so so so so so much fun!!!! :D I've made a ton of friends who are just as involved w/ballroom as I am. Yay for formation teams! haha

Cool. Hmm. There was a thread somewhere that had a link to some curriculum info and requirements for the BYU team. I wonder if I can find it again? :?
