Is there a dance that you enjoy doing even though you feel you don't know it very well?
I have two of these; NC2S and Salsa.
I could add WCS, but unlike the other two I'm working on it right now.

Hustle. I don't know except for the basic, but there's two really good hustle leaders who I sometimes see at social dances. If I'm fortunate enough to get to dance with them then suddenly it's like I'm on "Dance Fever."

NC2S for me as well. I love to do it at the occasional Ballroom venue...but I've never taken any lessons. Maybe one of these days. ;)

I do tend to enjoy the rare opportunity I get to dance the hustle. It can really be a fun dance. I don't know if I want to take the time to dance it well enough - that might ruin it's allure.

To be honest, I don't really believe I know ANY dance all that well. But I enjoy almost all of them. All, except hustle, that is.  8)

We're gonna hustle when you get out to Nashville, Jenn. And we're gonna do it to the Village People.
Mine--samba. I soooooo want to learn more samba. But I want to learn more of everything, and because I do that it takes way longer before I start to feel comfortable in any one dance. :x :?

I would say all of my street latin type dances, ie samba, salsa, mambo, merengue, lambada and argentine tango. I only do groups at the moment, and know the steps, but have not actually danced them enough to be confident. I love all the dances that I have taken on.
Another is WCS, but my instructor and I are working on that every week from now on! I'm really starting to love it, even though having to concentrate so full on for an entire dance makes my head hurt. I swear there was smoke coming out of my ears when we were practicing last night!!

Samba!
Love it love it love it! Would have to be my favorite dance,Did I mention I really love it?
I dont know many moves but I am usually lucky enough to have some kind gentleman teach me a new thing or 2 every week. I have enough moves to get me thru a song or 2 but I certainly dont know it well.
I havent had a single lesson for Samba yet, but its only a matter of weeks away (July 6th to be exact but whos counting? )
I even get enjoyment out of watching other do it :)

I would happily prance around in nothing but one of those big colorful hats with fruit on them if it would make me a great samba dancer.....

Paso Doble. I might be dangerous if I knew what I was doing. Ditto for samba.

I have to add Samba to my list as well. Of all the dances I've ever done I know that one the least. I'll have to watch the studio's schedule of group classes for the next progressive class.

I don't even know the basic. When I didn't know any of the dances well (when I was just starting out) I enjoyed hustle a lot. First, because it is easier to dance when you don't know it then some other dances, and second, because I got to dance it only with good experienced leaders (only experienced leaders knew it, and I was one of very few girls who were willing to try to follow it)
I don't enjoy it as much anymore.

Exactly! Ill do whatever it takes...lie, cheat , steal.....
Although I cant imagine any of the above actually working at all...unless I could actually steal someone elses talent!

I love Paso too...but have never tried it, I watch the girls in their classes and wish I could join in.

I'd encourage you to give paso doble a try; it's an interesting learning experience. What makes this dance work is timing, sharpness, and above all else, attitude!

I don't like watching paso, I think it is boring to watch. I dislike like exactly what you like about it: the attitude. Too angry for me. Not my style.

I and another dancer friend of mine both saw Paso Doble for the first time at the same time, and call us different, but we both felt like it was a latin tango. Course we are relative newcomers, so what do we know?

I couldnt tell Paso from Tango for a while..even the music seemed the same, but as I began learning some basic Tango the difference became apparent.
I know others who had teh same problem so it must not be too uncommon for a newcomer.

I wouldn't exactly say paso doble is an angry dance, but certainly it's agressive. During practice it's a good way to vent the frustration of the day out on the dance floor.

*fake chiding* Genesius! Remember that there are children who browse this Forum! The "Land of Cuba" ain't only for you, you know! (Because, of course, I mind that sorta thing! {If someone thinks that wasn't sarcastic, I will have to go and cry somewhere to myself... })
Well, as far as wanting to learn more of a specific dance, I've gotta say, I wanna learn more about *ALL* of them! I *really* want to start Paso Doble though! I read a description of it, and it just sounds so wonderful! And I've only had a *taste* of Tango... And I can't wait until I start learning more and more Salsa!
As for any Ballroom dance that I'm *dying* to start, that goes to the Viennese Waltz. I want to start that one *soooo* badly! :D 8)
