It is a sad day in the ballroom world indeed, as Bobbie Irvine has finally succumbed to cancer. Bobbie had been diagnosed several years ago, but her indomitable spirit let her successfully fight the disease until today. The deepest sypathies and condolenses must, of course, be with Bill Irvine and family. But the entire ballroom world was the richer for her presence and the poorer for her passing.
For those who may not know, Bobbie and Bill Irvine were former Blackpool and World Professional Modern and Latin Champions. They were also both awarded the MBE (Member of the British Empire) in 1967, the first time that Ballroom Dancing had ever been so recognized. These acomplishments, however, fall far short of describing the contributions and impact that Bobbie and Bill have continued to have on the ballroom world.
