Audrey is the natural choice (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/lifeandstyle/articles/11069972?source=Metro)

(Edited just for SG  )

As I do not watch television and rarely any movies, I don't know who most of those women are. I did notice however, that there are 20 women listed as the 10 most beautiful...hmmm...does that mean there is two for each guy?!?! :P ;)

Of ALL TIME?! I only agree with 2 names on that list (Audrey and Grace) Where's Natalie Wood? Sophia Loren? Monica Bellucci? Isabella Rossellini should be in the top 10 not further down! This list is a travesty!!

Very sad. :( Why use words? I've been quiet so long, but perhaps I may suggest a change in strategy. Just dance one bachata with her and she will be able to choose. Don't worry I won't join in the fray. :) I suggest that dance as anyone can do it, plus it is romatic, plus you can do crazy things, anything with it. Very versatile. GR has more dancing experience, though not necessarily bachata. SG knows some bachata, but is new to the dance scene. Not a bad match.

yeah it seems that the list is a bit "trendy" instead of classic...

Hepburn yes, but Natalie Imbruglia? In 20 years do you think her face would be able to grace the cover of Time?

I agree. This doesn't look like a list of timeless beauties to me. What do you bet the same newspaper will publish an entirely new list with mostly different names next year this time?

Yes, very poor top ten list.

Hepburn and Kelly fit, and Princess Diana, and Isabella Rossillini. OK, Elle MacPherson and Halle Berry might make the cut.

But where is Katherine Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Sopia Loren, Jane Seymour, Raquel Welch, Bo Derek, Catherine DeNeuve, Joan Severance, Farrah Faucet, Jacqueline Smith, Kate Jackson, Kim Basinger, Sharon Stone, Stephanie Seymour, Cindy Crawford, Terry Hatcher, Nicole Kidman.

That's a total of 25! And I might come up with more.

Ok...Liv Tyler, Cate Blanchett, Juliet Binoche, and Charlize Theron have merit, but above those listed here? And Scarlett Johanson, is certainly worth a second look. Now that's 30!

I'm probably forgetting someone.

Notice I listed Liv down below, not truelly likely to make my top ten list. I very much wonder how she got #2 on their list?

Hi, all's well. I leave for the states on Sunday. Still haven't heard back from Cornell yet though. I've been busy lately, between work, dance, packing/getting ready to go, and hanging out with friends before I leave I haven't had a heck of a lot of time to go online.

Of course! And some of the women called beautiful, look quite ordinary when caught unaware and of their makeup.

But if we're going to pick out the most beautiful women in the world, we need to pick someone we can all relate too.

Btw: whatshername above is Gisele Bundchen. Cameron and Gisele, that's two women I'd like spending and afternoon with, trying to teach them how to dance.

Sophia Loren (one of my all time favorites) REALLY should have been on that list. Even in her old age, she's gorgeous and still has that whole aura of sex kitten about her. The best part, I think she's a beautiful face AND a great actress.

Ingrid Bergman--another must have in my book. Gorgeous, sophisticated and classy.

AND...both Audrey and Katherine Hepburn.

In the hoofers category...I thought Ann Miller was absolutely gorgeous. She died a year or so ago and like Loren was still beautiful in her old age.

Despite her present condition...Elizabeth Taylor was SO beautiful. She was called the most beautiful woman in the world...for forever.

Funny all the women I admire and think the most beautiful and sophisticated are mostly brunettes.

For modern beauties...the only ones that carry even a semblance of old Hollywood glamour (a lost art) would be Gwyneth Paltrow, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Nicole Kidman. I'm an old movie lover and nobody has that type of glamour seen in the 30's-50's any longer. It is a shame really.

My male nominations would include...(in no particular order)

1. Sir Anthony Hopkins
2. Sean Connery
3. Paul Newman
4. Robert Redford
5. Clark Gable
6. Audey Murphy
7. Errol Flynn
8. Marlon Brando--he may look horrible now, but my god...he was gorgeous when he was young.

Present awesome men...
9. Johnny Depp...AND a fabulous actor, I appreciate how much he gets into his roles and the care he takes choosing roles.
10. Edward Norton...another great actor.

I'm an old movie buff. Audie Murphy was the most decorated soldier of (I believe) WWII. After returning to the U.S....be became an actor. I thought he was a very good-looking man. Perhaps not the best actor, but as I have known about him for ages (from the time I first saw him in a movie at about age 12). I've always had one of those crushes you get over movie stars. He had such a great face and all American good looks.

I imagined if anyone knew who he was...it might surprise some that a girl of my age and "caliber" would know who he was.

I was just about to start the ten best guys thread when it occurred to me that I have no idea how to phrase it. Ten most beautiful men? Most handsome men? Most attractive men? Sexiest men? Classically good-looking men? Hmm. Still pondering ...

Oh yes I know. I pour over books about old Hollywood reading about him and the other old Hollywood actors I adore. I still think I'm an old soul. I was born in the wrong era. Yes, Brad Pitt is gorgeous...but he just doesn't have the charisma, charm, and mystery of Clark Gable, James Dean, or early Brando.

Anyone ever read the very interesting "Hollywood Babylon?"

Sigh....

Chunky...what's wrong with that. I like women that are shape like women! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Thanks for saying that. I've gained about five pounds recently, and, to be perfectly honest, I think I look much better with a few more curves.

I think most women look better when they just relax, eat and exercise moderately, and just turn out however God intended (which usually isn't shaped like a stick! )

But Liv's brand of chunky doesn't appeal to me. To each his own. 8)

Lena Horne

No problem...Pygmalion! I just love women shaped like women. Women are suppose to have curves! I must admit I don't know Liv Tyler and how she's shaped. I have to think about my Ten Most Beautiful Women of all time. I will write that Sophia Loren & Phylicia Rashad are on my list.

Vanessa Williams and Phylicia Rashad, two more excellent choices!

An aside, for me, if a women has a positive attitude, believes in herself and exhudes self-confidence, then she is likely to be smart and sexy, too.

(of men?)

I used to have a very deep infatuation, (if there is such a thing as a deep infatuation), with Vanessa Williams, then I found out she had 4 kids. She still looks good but those kids keep busting into my dreams and screaming things like "Mommy, I'd thirsty", "Mommy, I'm hungry", "Mommy...".

Hmmm....I'd have to say that the old-timers didn't have the advantage of botox, airbrushing and the frenzy of plastic surgery that is available today.
It is a lot easier to be "pretty" today.

My picks:

Elizabeth Taylor
Michelle Pfeiffer
Tina Turner

I added Tina Turner because someone else mentioned her and I think her beauty is more in her perserverance and spirit than her looks, but she's got it over most, for sure.

I only wish I had legs as nice as hers

You know, legs were probably always my best feature, but as I get older, they seem to get bonier from the knee down and I have no idea how she does it, but she looks like she has legs of a 20-year old! I'd take her confidence and attitude, too, if I could!

Hmmm...if you could steal one feature from someone, what would it be?

I can't believe I went through this whole thread and didn't see Jessica Alba's name on the list. If you don't know who she is watch the movie Honey and you'll see why she should be in the top 3 of the list. :D :D
