Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had and suggestions about how to improve my Latin dancing. I know that I want to use my stomach muscles instead of my hips but I am having trouble doing so. Are there any exercises you guys can suggest to help? I am a male so I assume there are different exercises for different types of dancers. Though I have sold ballroom dance shoes for several years now it is only within the past few months that I have become interested in trying to learn how to dance myself. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Jared

My suggestion would be to look for a latin technique class with a lot of solo drills and repetition from a skilled and demanding instructor. You may have to resort to private lessons, but when there's a group of people with comparable interest this works well in that setting, since lots of time with a good example and occasional personal suggestions beats the same money's shorter time of exclusive attention. Or do both privates and group technique.

Welcome to the DF, SD.

Though not what you are probably wanting, there are many threads here about this. Search around for a day or 2; we will always be here to help.

this is one of those things that is also difficult to discuss and easier to show so I would also reccommend you look into some high quality videos on latin technique
