Do you have specific names that you refer to other dancers at your studio/club by when amongst friends? Names that you would never call them to their face?
I was reading over some old thread and noticed that salsachinita calls one guy SideShow Bob

There are a few people who my friends and I have labels for..

Comb-over guy -- Obvious reason here..he has the worst comb-over ever!
Lord Of the Dance -- Has nothing to do with his ability...he is one of those guys who thinks he knows everything, tries to tell females how to dance an he doesnt even know his own steps!
Air Head -- What can I say..she spends 5 months learning and doing the step then asks what a lock step is, and when asked by the teacher to show him what she has been doing she gets offended.
The Bimbos-- 2 girls here...everything needs to be explained 15 times, then they continue to ask questions like "When you say forward left do you step in front on your left foot?"
Slime -- The one who gets too close in any dance and usually get rejected by all but the beginners.

OF COURSE we have names!!! We speak Japanese here for the most part, but some of our "nicknames" are similar to what you listed. Also have
"The Sweaty Dude" , "Spastic", "Bad Breath" to name a few.
One of the latino guys calls a heavyset guy "Puerco(pig)" which isn't so nice. Don't like to call people names, but sometimes when referring to someone where we don't know their name, we use their "characteristics" or "mannerisms".
Wondering what they call me? Probably "Whip chick" or "SM girl"
as I have hair down to my waist which results in incessant lashings during spins.

Okay, "crazy guy" who moves people around like crazy. You have to be firm with him if you don't like it. Say no, stop dancing and hold his hand firmly. He'll get it then. He is a good dancer when he tames down his act for the ladies.

The overstylist! I posted a story about her a long time ago. She does this spastic 'styling' after every single move!!!

 Club nicknames!!!!!

ShyDancer, if you come out with me you will know SideShow Bob (he knows we call him that now  ) is........he's sooooooo funny!

These are the characters that may have made cameo appearances in my posts:
El Washing Machine - my dance partner from 14 yrs ago. He 'spins you dry' !
Gangsta - my all-time favourite social partner, super smoooooth, dressed to match his image 8)
Danny DeVito - one of my social partners, he looks just like Danny DV in 'Twins'
Skippy - no, not the peanut butter to all you Americans out there. It's one of our old sit-com characters ("Acropolis Now" to all you Aussies: do you remember Skippy the kitchenhand?). His mannerism is just like that!
Jackie Chan - He starred at one of MadamSamba's posts. This guy dances like he's fighting!
Wet Towel - one of my social partners who did my first (and only) aerial with me. This guy sweats!
Mighty Mouse - one of our local legends, part of the original crew that started salsa in Melbourne. He's a pint size dynamite!

There are more, I just can't think of all of them right now! Latinos are big on giving people nicknames AND using them! Quite often the nickname is remembered while the real one forgotten  . Generally it's a cool thing to have a nickname....a sign of being accepted as a 'character' in the community.

You know I am getting better at doing multiple spins to follows. Now that I've decided that I need to learn the moves to also satisfy the fancy move crowd. :) It's fun doing moves, so I can see how people would want to learn moves, but, still not the same as grooving to the music. Which I can do if the whole song is not packed with move after move after move after move after move after move after move after move...you get the idea!

Give us a call & we shall get it organised  !!!!

Seriously, you guys know how much I hate spinning, right? For some reason this guy can spin me as much as he likes & I'd be cool with it. Life is full of mysteries :? .

We even did a showdown with CapricornDancer & another girl. We still kick @$$ 8) !!!!!

     These names are great! I *especially* got a kick out of yours, Cocodrilo! "SM Girl," *laughs* wow. I feel for you though, or maybe anyone I've danced with does -- my hair goes down to about the small of my back, and I'm trying to get it longer!

I don't know if people have nicknames around our studio... I don't get around often enough to know (*pout pout*), but it *does* make me wonder if *I* have any sort of a nickname I don't know about... :?

Haha those names are off the hook!

Well im trying to translate finnish words here:

Feminist = Actually a GUY, who dances like...you know... not so masculine
The Machine = A dancer who is much more intrested about posing himself in front of the audience rather than dancing. Not afraid to hurt his competitors.

*bows* Thanks Doc'! 8) Of course, I feel above the level of "cute" when I'm on the dance floor doing Latin dances, but I'm perfectly happy to come back to DF looking cute again!

We have a few guys with the same name (will define by ??? here) so we define them by the way they dance.

Creepy ??? just stares at you the whole time you are dancing with him. He is very much a beginner and just gives you the creeps the way he stares.

Smiley ??? smiles constantly and is extremely polite. He is a very very good dancer, makes up his own stuff and thanks you if you follow one of his moves!

??? is reserved for the boss man.

We also have "the floor clearer" because when he gets on the floor doing a smooth dance (waltz especially) he doesn't dance to the conditions of the floor, ie crowded, he just dances his way and as a consequence, he bumps into everybody constantly. His floorcraft is very poor. Most guys spend most of the dance trying to avoid him!

  "The Floor Clearer" doesn't sound like someone I'd want to run into! Although, he might be running over me instead...

We have:

The poodle = the guy really looks like a poodle, with his hair running down his forehead and into his eyes... he always makes these funny moves with his head while dancing to remove the hair and be able to see... :) - he hates this nickname, btw...

The pony-tail = he has his hair back into a pony-tail...

Padre = he's a student in Teology and going to be a priest...

The skunk (that used to be me...) = 'cause I bounced around while dancing like the Pepe le Pew cartoon character... while chasing the cat around... (nothing to do with my smell though... :))

The penguin = my partner, 'cause when he learned to dance he looked like one, due to the way he was moving his hands and legs...

The gipsy = he's obviously of gipsy origin...

Barbie doll = she's tall, good-looking and very blonde... (but not dumb...)

I'll think some more and come back...

*grins* Yes, because when we're just cute, it's when we start bringing the men under our woven spells, but when we're being sexy on the dance floor, it's when we know we own them completely!

 Although, if we dance well enough, they may not mind!  You know I love you guys out there, right? *cute look and batting her eyelashes*
