I would recommend the music of Juan Luis Guerra (it's not entirely, but mostly, Merengue): the greatest hits album has some good stuff in it; also "Fogarate" and "Ni es lo mismo, ni es igual".
Also, check out Melina Leon: I really like her album "Bano de luna".

Don't!
Just joking. ;)
I'm not a big merengue fan, so decided to be a trouble maker instead. Hopefully there are others who can help.
On the Guerra cd, I like "Ojala que lleuva cafe".
A good classic Merengue, "Cada Tierra con su ritmo" by Luis Kalaff. Forgive me but I also like Fulanito's "Guallando(spelling?)"
Whatever you do stay away from the Elvis Crespo supermix. I hate when they play that in the club.

:) I am not into merengue either, but Juan Luis Guerra sounds just fine to me...

"Un Beso" - Grupo Mania -- sort of comic relief merengue :-)
"Guallando" - Fulanito -- typical Fulanito style!
I love a lot of merengues but don't know the titles/artists!

There's some really good, classic, instrumental merengue (with saxophone) by Juan Colon and Manuel Tejada "Con El Alma De Tavito". It has classic merengue songs like "El Negrito del Batey", "Compadre Pedro Juan", "Cana Brava", etc. I just got it the other day and I am amazed how good it really is! !! Los Toros Band have a good rendition of "El Negrito del Batey" as well (Serie Millenium 21 Greatest Hits collection, also in Raices CD). Grupo Mania has some good stuff too -check out their greatest hits CD's (there are several).

Okay... Juan Luis Guerra has some merengue songs that I like. One that I especially like is "El Niagara en Bicicleta".

Check out the stuff by Cuco Valoy. He is the original write of DLG's 'Juliana'. Amazing stuff.

La Makina off the sin limites album.
Oro solido esp Maria se fue.
I have actually found a song that sounds like merengue to me that I don't tolerate but actually even enjoy.
Carmelina by Willie Colon.

Eddy Herrera (El Idiota), Joseph Fonseca (Que levante la mano), Christian Castro (Azul - gets very annoying with the time), Papi Sanchez (its a mix between reggaeton and Merengue - Enamorame, Dilema), Los Toros Band (loco conmigo, bobine), Jossie Esteban (Chupa Que Chupa)
My favourites are bold - the most songs arent technomerengue, more like slow and nice merengues....
