Geraldine is not an ordinary follower, she is always dancing actively as if she is a leader. Increbile embellesments and sexy boleos. Maybe she is not a very beautiful woman but she looks very attractive when she dances.
By the way do you think Geraldine's new partner Ezequel is not as good as Javier? I havent seen Geraldine's old and great performance since she left Javier.

from my vantage point she looks like a goddess... with ridiculously amazing dance skills. it's just a very different lens through which you are critiquing her appearance, that's all. does not compute for me. to each his own. crikey, you would likely perceive me as a troll by comparison, tho.

Amazing. Gorgeous. Inspirational. Unbelievable.
DH and I actually spent a couple of hours this weekend watching some of her videos on You Tube.

As far as show tango dancers are concerned, there are several on par with, or even much, much better than Geraldine. I've seen them live and have danced with a few of them.
It is a subjective thing, and I for one cannot, nor will say who is the best. Because, each of them are far superior to each other in their own way.

FYI, what men find attractive/beautiful in a women often is quite out of sync with what women feel is beautiful. Thus, the disconnect in this thread.

Just look at who's saying what. More of the women are leaning one way, but some of the men . . .

People who are as ugly as I am, are reluctant to say anything negative about someone else's looks, but let's just say that I don't find her to look like a goddess.

dchester,
Don't talk to me about "ugly". As a child, I was so ugly my mama had to tie a pork chop around my neck just to get the dog to play with me.

Difficult question. Well the answer is easy, but posting it is difficult. There is this policy here about never posting criticism about someone. Maybe saying that the two of them are of equal value is ok. Maybe saying that one is not as good as the other, but without saying which one, is ok.

what has this got to do with her ability to dance?
Can we please not assess people's worth based on appearance? I ctually find this deeply offensive, or have other threads read:
oh so and so, although he's got a face like a donkey's bottom he has an incredibly elegant walk.

Thanks for the compliment. I've spent a lot of time working on my walk.

Geraldine is very good, and is well respected in/out of argentina. IMO, she and Javier were great; she and her husband are better (different relationship/different connection/different levels of maturity).

Having watched the movie Shallow Hal; I suspect I may be hypocritical; I think tango has a deeply aesthetic content part of which is the beauty of the dancer's faces; just g**gle tango dancers and see the images that come; not the shuffling hoi polloi of the milongas but artfully posed beautifully dressed couples. well I could write a long essay on this starting with Ruskin, but the eye is drawn to beauty, but as Toulose Lautrec said beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Are you people serious? I thought this thread was about 'the best female dancer', not 'the most visually appealing female dancer'.... I don't find looks at all relevant to this discussion. Of course, if I'm at a milonga and there are two women I've never seen dancing, I, as the shallow fool with testosterone flowing throw my veins that I am, will ask the better looking one... but I'd much rather dance with a great dancer who's not so gifted in the looks department than a supermodel who thinks she's a hot shot but can't dance to save her life though she doesn't know that (I've encountered people from both extremes).
But anyway...... Geraldine Rojas, yes, great dancer. As for her partners, in my view there cannot be talk of Geraldine without talk of Javier and viceversa. For some reason, my former tango mentor doesn't think Geraldine isn't all that, and she just looks pretty because of overdoing adornos (I, and pretty much the rest of the universe, respectfully disagrees with her) and sustains that Andrea Missé is the better dancer (again, I disagree, but it's subjective). As for the guys, I find Javier to be far superior than Ezequiel..... Any Ezequiel performance I've seen on YouTube (which admittedly isn't that many, because the few I've watched haven't motivated me to look for more) has left me either indifferent or wondering why he did a bunch of superfluous moves. One could say 'oh they have a better connection because they love each other bla bla', but not all dance partners are also life partners, including, I believe, Sebastian and Mariana, who are among the best, if not the best, of this generation.

relax, milongadicto... this all started with a comment of mine in response to the OP's statement that geraldine was "not very beautiful"...which i simply could not wrap my mind around.
ostensibly, the purpose of the thread *is* to discuss her lovely dancing....
