How can we go about doing hosting a Salsa congress in Jamaica? How can we generate more interest from outside of Jamaica in order to make this a reality for the future?? Do you host competitions, etc?? what exactly goes into the whole preparation???
My teacher noted to me recently that salsa in Jamaica has 'evolved' for want of a better word. We have taken salsa and made it our own by incorporating our own little style or way of 'movement' to the dance. According to him he has been noticing the change over a period of time..whereas in, let's say New York the steps are done in a 'straight line', here in Jamaica out steps are done with more of a 'swaying' motion. I am not too sure if this makes sense....I guess you will have to see it to understand but I see it too. I watch other salseros/as from different parts of the world (thanks to the internet's live video streams 8) ) and when I compare it to how we move I can see that there does seem to be a subtle difference.
Has anyone else seen this? can anyone else identify with what I'm talking about??
