In case anyone was planning to attend. The competition was scheduled to start tomorrow, but due to the weather forecast it has been postponed.

WOW! Do you know if they have chosen a new date?
I'm both happy (because now maybe I can go!) and bummed (because I'm supposed to be in "Vagina Monologues" this weekend (which is a HUGE fundraiser to benefit Rape Crisis and Family and Children's Services, so size of audience REALLY matters).

I'm sure once they figure out the new dates it will be on the website. All I know is that its not happening this weekend.

Supposed to get well over 3 feet of snow tonight. So no flights in for the next day at least... plus no one driving down.

I think I might be the only one who is pleased as it was a bad weekend for me and I have not missed it in the last three years

might be blessing in disguise for me as well as I could not do it this year due to conflicting schedules. Maybe the postponed date might work better.
But I can also see entries down even further as those who were originally planning to attend may no longer be able to.

At least one other person is happy, or will be when they get back to the computer. :) Someone had just complained to me that they were going to have to miss it (wanted to go to cheer on a friend) just before this thread was posted. :)

Well it is a good thing my ticket was Southwest. I was suppposed to fly out for smooth, then that student cancelled. So I changed my ticket to fly out only for standard. Then that student cancelled. So I changed my ticket to fly out just for Saturday to hang out with friends. Now I have to change it again.... Thank god SW doesn't charge change fees!!!!

The page owners should probably post something on the FB pages, too. The comp one has a link to the comp website, but it would be better if the FB page itself also said it has been postponed. And Barbara Condon had a page, too, but I don't see that now.

That's really good of her and smart, too. But I was thinking of random potential spectators who might happen upon the page and think about going to watch.

The "official" MD Dancesport FB page created by Glenis and Andrea sent out a message to its members. Barbara Condon's page is mainly to promote her personal business and not an official page.

Has any NDCA competition ever been postponed? I think rescheduling an NDCA comp will be a nightmare because I think there are some strict guidelines that NDCA set for scheduling a comp.

I don't think it is going to be much different than how they proceed when they change the date of a comp...which maryland has done before...it used to be in june

There have been competitions that have been postponed before... yet I don't think ever at such a last minute. I am sure it was really really not an easy decision for Andrea or Glennis.

heehee! It's funny, that word keeps coming up in different places! One of my friends is having a "Snowmageddon Party" at his place. Everyone brings game systems, movies, and we all hold out for the weekend there.
And I swear someone else used that word at work. :)
Honestly, the biggest threat around DC isn't the snow, it's the people who think their SUV makes them invincible.

More like my skis! Or train the dogs to be useful and pull a sled.
For once I could see the usual DC "OMG SNOW IS COMING! BUY UP THE BREAD! BUY UP THE MILK! THE END IS NIGH!" routine as making sense. (When it's three INCHES, to those of us from farther north, it looks a little silly.)

While I don't know, I'll bet they would be amenable to new entries.
And cancelling was 100% the right call. We got 27" in my town, and at times, it was coming down so fast that there were near white-out conditions, with less than 1/4 mile visibility. Very dangerous to drive in that.
I know that a lot of other events cancelled. A teen hip-hop dancer I know was supposed to compete at a dance comp this weekend as well, and that was also cancelled.

Anyone interested in a DF meetup? Saturday 7:00pm at "On The Rocks"? That's the name of the bar at the hotel.
Well, we finish dancing shortly after 6, so maybe. I'm planning to head over to CCB afterward and would like to hit the shower first, but perhaps I can stop by the bar for a few minutes. You gonna reserve a table?
BTW, does ayone else find the comp website to lag horribly because of the stupid video on the front page?

I can get there a little early and try to hold a few tables together. Or just simply meet at the bar. Its not really crowded.
Yes the website is sloooooooooooooooooooooow!

If anyone has a program and a minute to look this up, could you tell me when Pro Latin is schedule to run?
I probably can't make it because I'm in a production of "Vagina Monologues" in Westminster at 7 PM, but if I can get out by 9 and Pro Latin isn't until 10:30 or so, maaaaybe. (Okay, yes, I realize that is a crazy idea and I may not have the energy especially since I stayed out too late at the cast party last night, but we'll see!)
