Salsa Costume Party!

i'm thinking of either a top of the line mafioso or tarzan :lol:

I've been to a few 8) !

I've gone as an Angel completed with wings (see pic in album), Pocahontas (completed with Meeko the Racoon), Carmen Miranda, Queen of Swords (like a female Zorro from a cable TV show; mask, cape, swords & everything!).

costume parties are too much fun!!!!! I wish people would do them more often AND more people would actually dress up!!!!

Why umbrella? Because it is the most wanted item in anyone's house (other than a bottle opener) :lol: and a well dressed man certainly knows how to hold his umbrella :D

If I could get away with it, I'd go as Catwoman. LOL!

Realistically, I've had great costumes (not for salsa dances) as a harem girl, fairly tame S&M babe, and a gypsy. Also was puss in boots one year.

Let's see... I'd get a "flapper's" outfit -- the shiny, sparkly, short dress, dangling jewelry, etc... --, so I could tag along with Sagitta, since Pacion and Sabor have already been paired. (Provided that's okay with you, Sagitta! 8) :friend: *laughs* Our Mafia men are so well loved! :ladiesma: :kissme:

Other ideas --

Close to the lines of a "female Zorro," but not quite... One could think maybe, "Mercenary from Medival Europe--Female form."
That would involve a pair of breeches (I'd prefer black); some sort of billowy, crimson shirt (but it'd have to have cuffs on it); maybe a black, leather vest of sorts, ties together right up the middle (one has to have armor if they're a mercenary! Leather -- good, light-weight, tough material.); tall boots; and some lovely way to do my hair -- maybe braid it with matching color cords from the vest. (I'm thinking crimson here agian...); and last but not least, a cloak -- probably black, with a nice silver clasp. Of course, having a rapier or dagers (whatever one's particular thing is) would only make the outfit better, but they're not quite needed when dancing. =^__^=;;; Ah, well. :wink:

Then, there's always the Masquerade idea: with the colourful ballgowns, masks, and hair done up in very fancy ways... Myself, I'd go with a Dragon theme, so I'd find some way to have that represented: designs on my dress, jewelry, etc... :D :D Yay, Dragons! They'd have to be the Eastern kind though! --Of course, that'd have to be a more tamed down dance -- none of the Latin dances! ( :shock: :cry: !)

A good "Eastern" costume might be fun too! With a longer skirt (with jangly metal bits for good noise when moving the hips in Latin dances! :twisted: ) a billowy shirt -- could be shorter (in reference to where the bottom of the shirt is at) depending on how "daring" one is. =^_~=

Glad you like it! :D :D :D I'd wanted to say black leather for the pants (you know, supple with a dull shine), but I doubt that'd be comfy to dance in for an extended period of time. Anybody have experience with this? --So, that's why I subbed in the breeches instead.)

If one *really* wanted to go the mile, I'm sure chain mail could be worn underneath the shirt, one could pull out the gauntlets, and there are places where "finger armor" is sold! (It really is armor! Very cool, it is. =^__^=)

I'll own something along those lines these days when I get the money to have it made/find it. (*crosses fingers* I hope!)
