A tango class workshop with the demo showing leader high heels..near the end...something to remember and look for in the future.:ladiesma:
I like their dancing otherwise..but I wouldn't want to be behind this guy.

Regardless of how I feel about this particular video...
Mario, I think you are overreacting.

OMG - but can you imagine being in front of this guy?

I wish people did not try to be all inventive and modern, and instead danced the classic, real tango.

I'm sorry I don't understand.

on an empty floor while doing a demo (i.e. let's take advantage of the fact that for once there is space all around) the guy does one embellishment.

I just don't understand. I am at my wits end. If you see someone plugging something in to the mains do you call social services in case their child decides to copy, but sticks it's fingers in?

If I don't like something, or think it is bad, I don't do it. I also credit other people with a tiny bit of intelligence. It's not monkey see monkey do. If silly people want to show off etc on crowded dance floors, watching a demo/or a youtube video is low on the list of influences. I know many men who do really cringey lame boleos and embellishments because they see women do it and think "that looks like fun/cool, I think I'll do it too." they didn't get it from watching performances, they got it from each other. If it is seen as acceptable, then people will do it and possibly push the boundaries.

It looks like a great way to keep people from tailgating.

Translation please? I did get this though, " In the best of the dance, the follower will take over the lead.".... yeah right if they are both men.

Translation please? I did get this though, " In the best of the dance, the follower will take over the lead.".... yeah right if they are both men. What does the fact that they're both men have to do with it? The idea of highly experienced followers being able to take over the lead is not an unusual one. What biological components a follower has (or leader, for that matter) is completely irrelevant.

Irrelevant to you paleface. (pun on LoneRanger joke)
..here again we talk of a different dance...what you are referring to is something VERY different from the culture that produced the golden age of AT music and dance. We are arguing peaches and oranges. I'm beginning to think that I could only be happy in a forum for traditional A.T. social dancing ..(even though the word 'traditional' will probably be challenged by those who don't want any distinctions made ever nor that anything even exists to differentiate the TWO approaches/dances).

Do you mean the different ("original?") culture that produced the dance wouldn't have the follower taking over the lead? In which case, your comment "yeah right if they are both men" doesn't make any sense.

Or do you mean the different ("original?") culture that produced the dance wouldn't have two men dancing together? In which case...um, that just contradicts pretty much everything I've heard about the origins of AT. Even as told by genuine Argentines. ...granted, those were Argentine teachers, so I'm sure they were just out to try and scam me into buying more lessons.

I think in order to compare, a man's shoe would need to have a 5" heel to maintain the same proportionality as a woman's shoe.
