What do you think of going to hear a band and they have local dancers, ie. not connected to the band, up on stage dancing?
Does this add or detract from your experience? If you have never experienced it, in theory, does it seem like a good/bad idea? Why?

Never experienced it. Something else to look at when I'm taking a break, if I am. Whenever I've had a band, 2/3 times, I've always danced non-stop. Something about the energy of live music, I guess.

Could be a little off topic but...
I don't know if this is a fact or just a rumor... but I have heard that :
One day Oscar de Leon was performing in LA area, he was so excited that he said to the audience "Hey, if there is any true mambero among you, get on the stage and dance with us!!"
One of the local dancers (who is well known all over the world, btw, I cannot mention his name here as I am sure everyone on this forum knows him!) got on the stage and started his shine.
Then Oscar shouted, "NO! NO! I want a REAL mambero!!"
and got him off the stage.
Has anyone heard of this story? I am still wondering if this is a fact or just a bad taste rumor that was started by someone who didn't like this dancer.

I actually like to see the dancers up on the stage. I used them to explain to my friends the difference between thinking about dancing and feeling it. (experienced dancers only)
To those that can mambo it is distracting if they are way off tempo, even if dancing on beat. Heck, I can even pick up a move or two from them.
To those that don't even know mambo is a dance, it looks fabulous.
However, when the music gets too hot to handly, my ears/eyes/body/and soul are for the band. The dancers disapear in my mind.

I mostly see it when women get up on stage and dance with the band. The last time was at Joe Arroyo concert. Some joker got up and caused a destraction. It`s ok as long as people do one or two steps and then get off the stage!!
