(Salsa) Congress!

Hey guys! It's me again, with another question! :wink:

I've seen these all *OVER* the place here on DF. People talking about Congresses. Mostly Salsa Congresses from what I've seen, so:

What *are* these Congresses?

Are they something that comes about every so often? Do many cities have them, and they're around quite often? Do only certain cities have them, and they only come along every so often?

Do these Congresses include competitions, workshops, etc...?

Just wondering; from what I've seen, I can't wait to go to one! :D

Yes, yes, and yes.

Arguably, the most well known promoter in the salsa scene is Albert Torres.


Do these Congresses include competitions, workshops, etc...?

They almost all have workshops. Some have competitions. And another draw would be performances. What I like is how you get to dance with people from all over the world.


Just wondering; from what I've seen, I can't wait to go to one! :D

Except... My parents have no desire to go to NY... And they'd never take me for something that had to do with dance... :cry: :cry: :cry: But, who knows? Maybe I could convince them to go there, as a sort of, "My senior year is going to start in August, so this is my Senior present!" *shrugs* Who knows... :roll: 8) Better than my asking for a Corvette... *grins*
