Another request, lol, seems like I never come here unless I have a dance assignment. Sorry about this everyone, but year 12 appears to have taken over my life
Anyways, the point of this thread is to ask if there are any ballet dancers (especially males) who would be willing to answer some questions? and possibly send a photo of their feet?
I'm sure this seems odd, but my partner and I chose to do an assignment on ballet dancers and the pain that they endure. We're not trying to show ballet in a bad light or anything, we just want to show the reasons that ballet dancers continue to dance despite the pain.
Thanks all, and for putting up with me  but I promise that in the holidays when I'm home, and after school's out (not long now!) I'll be here as often as I can be!
luv Chrissie

I was a ballet dancer (although not male  ), so ask any questions you want. The reason I finally quit was because of chronic injuries. I had bad knees from the age of 10, but kept dancing through the pain for another eleven years, until the pain grew so intense that I couldn't sleep, couldn't walk up or down stairs, and my knees sounded like gravel everytime I moved. (Well, they still sound like that.) My feet look a lot better than they used to, although I've got some pretty weird toenails from pointe. TMI?

whoa! that's so bad! I'm going to post the interview questions here tomorrow, for anyone else who wants to answer them too. umm, Laura, Would you be able to post a pic of your feet? It's not fully important, so don't worry if you can't. We've already got pictures of our friends feet, they are quite scary!

Hello!
I wouldn't mind helping with your project. :)
I've been doing ballet since I was 4.
Not male though. :|

Nice sentiment J.Risa, but Shield Maiden's posts are more than 4 years out of date now. ;)

While we're on this subject I was wondering, how do the rates charged by the schools teaching ballet, tap and jazz compare with those of a ballroom studio?

The rates for the local studio I go to are comparable to those of ballroom studios. Only difference is it's considered as tuition; you're responsible for the entire semester, but you can pay monthly. As for privates, it's also comparable, but taken in 30 minute interval instead of the customary 50min - 1hr ballroom privates.

No worries, just didn't want you to be waiting around, trying to help, and confused why your offer was being ignored. ;)

From my experiance the rates are about the same. I had to pay 45 a month for twice a week jazz and had to pay 40 a month for once a week salsa. The rate went up $5 for every extra class per week at my jazz studio.

Haha. Thanks. :D
Um. Well where I come from my ballet fees are $180 each semester (every 3 months) and ballroom's $120 for 8 weeks. So it's $15 per lesson for both. Does that mean anything?
