I was just wondering if your choice of music has changed since you started dancing?
Before I began dancing I would listen to the radio all day long, only ever top 40 stuff.
Now I have NO idea of the #1 song at the moment.
My taste in music has changed dramatically, especially of late when I really find myself enjoying the classic crooners like Sinatra, Bobby Darin and Roger Miller, Ive been looking around for CDs from the big band era,
Then of course there is the Latin music...I cant understand a word of the songs but I play them over and over, I can mumble the odd word Ive learnt how to say

Pop was what I used to listen to. I started building a collection, then got into swing, so started building that, and now it has exploded into latin. I also am exploring other music, such as African and Middle Eastern. While latin is my predominate music choice these other styles do slip in, but never top 40. The other day my friend was playing a top 40 latin pop song and I said that is the version of Spanish Brittany!! My fried said these are what the words say, and I replied great lyrics but the music "sucks". Only great words do not a great song make. :)
A tangent, of sorts...I do need to listen to more AT music and get some AT practice time in. The person who tecahes my class offered me a sampler CD when I asked for help in choosing music to listen to, so now I can burn some music. Then she is going to help me by pointing out places where I can get such music. A great teacher, or what? By the way I really like my teachers for AT. I actually am having tons of fun learning even though I know that I'm making mistake after mistake and learning slowly. This is the first beginner class that I've taken where there is huge grin on my face. When I went latin dancing people commented you seem happier. I owe it to them. Rina talks of taking your time and not rushing, not having to know a ton of steps....this entire philosophy of AT, is just up my alley - I'll stop blabbing now, but if you like Boriken's philosophy of salsa I say do AT. If you believe in dancing and not stepping, and not pattern dancing, do AT.

Absolutely! I still occasionally buy the kind of music I bought before dancing. But 95% of what I buy these days are dance music, that is jazz and a little tango.
