So, those of us who've seen lots of high level dancing... (who shall remain nameless LOL)

A question for you. What is it that distinguishes the true rising stars from the also-rans? What makes some couples stand out on the floor as if they were in a spotlight, while others recede into the background? How would you define star quality? Who has it, who doesn't (please be nice  ). And if you don't have it, how do you get it?

Good questions! I have limited experience seeing high-level dancers, but I can tell you that I watched a pro doing a pro/am at my comp in May and I just could NOT take my eyes off of her. It's as though there weren't any other dancers on the floor. What was it? I'd say her interpreting the music, facial expressions (I've been after her to make/sell a tape of them) and her movement. Honestly, she just completely connected with the audience. I swear her students always win because of her!
