This is an embrace across time zones
This is Tango's power to bring people together
This is creating the world we want to live in
This is fun, hot, nocturnal, mercurial, alchemical, oxygen-rich, organic
This benefits humanity
This provides the world with something it can use
This is an act of unity that knows no geographic bounds
This night goes til morning on the other side of the world
This is a birthday party for Julio De Caro, for Gardel, for those whose music has transformed us, for those whose music will transform us
This is in honor of Tango's power to create peace
This is in gratitude for Tango's contribution to our lives
This is the unforgettable friendship we share through Tango
This involves projectors and high speed-internet
This is the definition of unity
This is the Global Milonga

Shouldn't one of those "11"s be a "12"?

Note that the common DD.MM.YY sorting may be different: December 11th 2010 usually means 11.12. in Europe and 12.11. in America (believe so anyway)

The Global Milonga is an open alliance of tango dancers, organizers, and teachers celebrating the tango's innate ability to unite and transform. Anyone can join! Simultaneous tango events are synchronized by online streaming audio, and raise funds for a cause of universal importance: our planet. Dancers around the world tango to the same music at the same time and live video is projected onto the walls of local venues and streamed on this website.

The theme of the event is Tierra Querida: Beloved Earth, a tango recorded by the orchestra of Julio De Caro whose lyrics (http://www.todotango.com/english/las_obras/letra.aspx?idletra=1639) describe an idyllic homeland, and we've chosen our date to coincide with National Tango Day in Argentina. The Global Milonga represents our solidarity as an international tango community and demonstrates our collective power to create the world we wish to live in.

Thank you for reminding me that its the Humbug season, the season of commercial insincerity....as if the shops werent already doing so; Christmas decorations on view before halloween..

as they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions..much as I would love to go the Christmas tango feast there are plenty of milongas somewhat closer...

time for a Misers and Scroogers milonga;

only a guinea to get in..bring your own food and drink but NOT to share

yes the hotel down the road from me put out their inflatable santa claus at the start of November - the week after Halloweens. Oh and the week before us English celebrate Guy Fawkes night!

Re closer milongas : yes there are closer milongas, but hey, quality comes first..

Anyway I'll mention the global milonga thing to the Feast organizer on Saturday and see what he thinks.
