I know a collector who probably has it. You'll have to go see him when you are in Buenos Aires next year.
In the meantime, you can read the lyrics at http://www.todotango.com/spanish/las_obras/Tema.aspx?id=EB39/G/dOv0

Actually, I had planned to be in Buenos Aires in February, and I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, my plans were changed. I do hope someone else has a source. :(

I entered the title along with Lomuto and this popped up. It couldn't be simpler with the help of Goggle.

FWIW, I like the Canaro one better.

..print music. I would really like to get a copy of...
Hi jerblu, my english is still a bit rough, so I fear I havn´t got you right: are you looking for printed scores (arreglo, sheets) or for a digital audio file?

OpenDoor- I'm looking for a music download, so I can play it on my iPod. And I'm a little uncomfortable with the spyware that the p2p sites include with their downloaders. I couldnt find it on iTunes, but I am willing to pay for the song.

Quick Google - or Goggle as jantango amusingly named it:

You can grab it easily from there, pm me if you don't know how.
There are probably other sources but this results in a 128bps mp3,
which is fine for ipod etc listening, if not exactly hi-fi!

Tnanks JohnEm. That was easy. And I do appreciate the help
But it is not the same version as Homer and Christina danced to at the Valentango. I think I'll email them and ask them where they got their file.

Hi John, hi Jerry, please help me with "it works" and "it is allowed"!
Every time I watch a streamed video (f.i. YT) on my PC the video file is temporarily saved on my hard disk somewhere in the visceral parts of my operating system. And it is not difficult to find these files. So I drag them out of those growls and put them on the desktop, find suitable names and suffix and store it. Is it legal, then? And if I want it on my iPod, I only have to delete the video part and keep the audio track. So though it comes freely and without being asked on my hard drive is it therefore my own? May I keep it though the browser would prefer to delete it from the cache when closed. May I keep it unchanged, may I keep it changed?
Thx in advance for advice?

Check out ZillaTube.com. They have a free version that will allow you to extract the audio from any YouTube video.

Thanks AndaBien. Did it just even and I found that they do quite the same what I use to do if I like a piece. So it seems to be legal ?!?

That dance at Valentango was the link to the video in my prior post, and like I said then, that's the Canaro version of the song, not the Lomuto version.

Also, like several have already said, if you google on "Cuando Estaba Enamorado" canaro, you will find hits, just like I did. Here is one.

It's possible, but that doesn't make it legal. I think the you have to resolve that question for yourself.

Your concerns are in a very grey area.
Tango music/recordings as far as I understand are largely out of copyright
though I'm no expert. The record companies may say that a modern compilation
is protected though, maybe not the recording themselves but the work of preparation etc.
As far as ownership is concerned of a recording that has been downloaded
and temporarily stored to be played by a streaming website I have no idea;
it's more likely to be situation where policing possible retention is an impossibility.
I tend to take the view that anyone legitimately streaming audio, or even video,
knows the there is a likelihood of such retention, even if only by a minority.
Just keep it for personal use.
In the case of YouTube, most of the tango dance music played has been recorded
via the videocam so it's very poor quality and rarely would I take the trouble
to split it from the video. However it may be ok for an iPod or similar.
Incidentally for Jerry, Homer and Christina do seem to be dancing to Canaro,
which dchester said earlier is his preferred version and I hear why. If you want
a quality version, talk to Keith Elshaw at ToTango as he has restored
the Canaro rather than Lomuto.
