Hi everyone,
It appears I may get a chance to go to the Manhattan Dancesport Championships (http://www.manhattandancesport.com/). But I need some help... I'm trying to find a good hotel close to the Marriott and want to know of a good alternative (read: cheaper) location to stay. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd very much appreciate it.
Also, if any of you ballroomers are going to be there, any suggestions on what events I should attend? I'm definitely going to get a ticket for Saturday evening and probably Saturday morning too, but I wanted recommendations for other sessions?

Enjoy your trip to the big apple! I would recommend trying orbitz or hotels.com if no one comes up with anything that will be helpful to you. I say that just because I asked someone else this same question a couple of weeks ago.
Good luck :)

Hotels in Manhattan are so expensive...if you can't find a good deal on hotels.com or orbitz.com then there probably aren't any. Oh, but you will have such a good time!!! I wish I were going but not this year....

I didn't know about this one!! I could have saved up to see if I could have gone. Anyone know of a good website where the various ones are listed? Perhaps with reviews so I know which ones are worth it...I do want to at least go to one and see what these ballroom events are all about.

Thanks for the encouragement. The one time I was living in New York (on someone else's dime), I didn't even think about going to this competition either... or any other dancing come to think of it. (I was not as serious then, and I knew I was there for work, not play.)
Thanks to my brother, we have a pretty good deal on a hotel. I just have to pay him back.
Anyone else going, so we're not completely lost in a sea of strangers?

That was nice of your brother!
I know a very nice couple from my studio are going, but I'm not. I'm doing the Empire State in August in Manhattan (need to stash some cash).
When exactly is the comp?

Manhattan Dance Championship is July 1-4.
My brother is more experienced with the online search engine thing, and has access to more discounts than I do.
There are a couple of other events I am contemplating observing, depending on money and time of course. For sure, I will attend the Yuletide Ball Championships in DC over New Years Eve weekend (wedding to attend in Baltimore). I'm also trying to see if I can arrange to go to the Cleveland Challenge in late September (since I used to live there, I still have a dance friend living there, and my former instructor organizes that event).

Thanks also for the NDCA link. Gosh darn it, I wish I could have known... this weekend was also the Northcoast Ballroom Championships in Cleveland, and having lived there for 7 years, no one ever told me about it.
