While browsing through the threads I came upon the word cheesecake and I thought of how lovely it is. I would just like to know whats your favorite brand and type of cheesecake. I will start it off

Eli's Turtle cheesecake.

Oh, and if u can only get your favorite cheesecake in a certain local restaurant or store please inform us on its location :D

slurp! One of my favorites, too. I found a recipe for a guava-topped ginger cheesecake with mango salsa in Bon Appetit that is quite yummy. But, I'm with Larinda, just about any kind will do!

Cheesecake seems to be a love it or hate it kind of thing. I love it. :D

My favorite cheesecake is ... hmm. I make a couple different ones. Old fashioned baked cheesecake with a sour cream topping that's out of this world. And then there are my fave cheesecake tarts that I make and give as gifts. Those are so easy. Thirty minutes to make. I'll have to dig out my recipes and post.

I'll eat any kind of cheesecake I can find, but I much prefer baked over refrigerator cheesecakes. Much, much, better, IMHO. The baked ones have just a touch of flour that gives them a nice texture. Yum.

As for cheesecake at restaurants, I have no particular favorite. If cheesecake is on the menu, I buy it. Plain and simple. LOL. Has anybody been to Cheesecake Factory? I hear their cakes are top of the line.

Sam's club, the discount store, has a very reasonably priced cheesecake, for cheesecake lovers on a budget. It's huge, and refreezable. Ten or eleven dollars, depending on the flavor. Ten for the plain; eleven for the mixed flavors. Not bad. Harry and David's has stellar cheesecakes that they'll deliver to your house. Wonderful holiday gifts ... to myself. LOL.

I am partial to cheesecakes also, especially the baked ones too  but, I prefer them not to be very sweet

A few years ago, I used to make a particular one and would substitute the white sugar for brown sugar (I read somewhere that you can use less of it and still have a 'sweet' taste) or use honey instead. I have also incorporated tinned pineapple slices and the juice from in order to reduce the amount of sugar the receipe called for

I think you can substitute Splenda (which I use all the time) for sugar in cheesecake recipes. There was a recipe for cheesecake on the back of the package -- at least a couple of months ago. I don't like "sweet, sweet" either.

Haven't been to a Cheesecake Factory yet. About 20 years ago, there was a small place called the Cheesecake Factory where I grew up in NJ and it was ALL cheesecakes - no other food. It was just out of this world. The had little mini cheesecakes and I used to eat those all the time.

Yes, yes, yes...The Cheesecake Factory rocks! I've had my limit for this month. I was just there this past Friday with some friends. Can't wait until next month! :P They also have a terrific dinner menu. The crabcakes are awesome. Anyways, my favorites would lean towards the sours like lemon, lime etc. :P

My mother makes a black forest cheesecake that is absolutely amazing. Lasts for ages because you can only have a small amount at a time, it is so rich!

Turtle cheesecake has chocolate, chopped walnuts and it's topped with a touch or caramel. If you like the turtle candy (those little chocolate covered walnut/caramel things that look like turtles) then I suggest trying this cheesecake :D

Nuts, chocolate and ice-cream is a good combination.

Cheesecake Factory rocks..............i agree. The portions of cheesecake they serve are just too big for one sitting.

 A too big portion of cheesecake? Never!!!

Just kidding. I understand what you mean. There are always doggie bags ... That way, you can save some of that creamy goodness for later. 8)

I'm having an attack of cravings for baked cheesecake... can't get decent baked cheesecase around here  . The British style cheesecake just won't do. :(

There's an Italian restaurant in a nearby town that does yummy cheesecake -- not baked, but light and very nice. I haven't been there for a looong time. Maybe I should go there tonight (their seafood pasta is heavenly too).
