talk about selective deafness! Oi Vay
Sod's Law of Tango Teaching...
1. A person will only hear the important thing you are teaching and have been saying every week when it comes from a visiting teacher who is (reputedly) someone famous and/or expensive.
2. if you give out quite clear instuctions on a step you can rely on getting 20 variations of those insrtuctions no matter how clear they are.
3. In a practica; there will always be someone who will try to do something they saw on Strictly, or was taught by a Stage Tango Dancer in Cuba (that one is true), or saw Homer Ladas doing on Youtube without having a clue about leading or following let alone how it would work with the music.
4. 90% of the people in the class will have forgotten 90% of what you taught last week.
5. No-one will practice, no matter how much you emphsasise its importance for progress. Except for two couples who will actually become good dancers quite quickly.
6. The worst follower in the class will complain that you practice favoritism, even though she's incapable of standing on one leg for more than half a second without assistance of major shoring....
I'm sure you can add more..........
any experiences and observations welcome......
