Before I go and charge away, does anyone have any feedback on the Shirley/Corky international technique tapes? There are individual tapes and then one that covers technique for the 5 dances (I was thinking since it's buy 5, get 1 free, maybe I'd use that as my freebie). Do you think it's necessary to have one for jive??

Thanks in advance!

Why would jive require it's own tape any less than the other dances?

For me, I think so. It doesn't seem to be that much different than swing except for the speed and, as a result, less bending of the legs. Maybe someone else might have some thoughts on that, though, because jive is the latin dance I've spent the least time on.

Well you could say the same thing about cha cha, if complete knowledge of american style is considered a starting point.

From my way of seeing things, the fact that jive (and rhythm ECS) resemble an imprecisely performed social dance only makes the case for in-depth treatment stronger, since the first task is to replace all the unsuitable carryover from free styles.

The only Shirley tape I have is her Spins and Turns tape that she did without Corky. DO NOT buy it. It's badly done. She spins beautifully, but teaches badly, IMHO.

Did you know they have a sale going right now? I meant to post the info a couple days ago, but got swamped. :? I don't know if Corky and Shirley are included. Let me go check. Nope. They're not included:? :(

You do know about the annual holiday sale -- buy five, get two free -- right? I like to wait until Thanksgiving-ish, when the sale is one, then get myself seven videos for Christmas. Works for me.

Thanks for the info. I think I used to be on their mailing list and then changed e-mail addresses. It's so nice....I don't get any junk now (and I"m sure that won't last!). I guess I can hold out until they have a sale; I'd just like to get some reviews before I sink the $$$$$.
