Come-hither: Seductive; alluring
It is one thing to look at your dance parter and hold her/his gaze. But, is the 'come-hither' look something that is 'natural' or can you practice and practice and practice and practice  until you get IT? (ie the look?)
How do you know when you have got IT?
How do you know when to use it/not to use? I was at a ladies salsa styling class recently and the teacher advised only use THE look when doing a slow move, otherwise, the impact gets lost
Tips/suggestions?
Is this look the same as the one of 'the hunter' when out socially? (including those who remember a time when they were single) :friend:
Guys, you can comment too. What is your opinion on THE look?

Hmmm...for me it is definitly natural. I don't know how to explain how I know when I've got it, I just do. I find it's much easier for me with people I am comfortable with-- some people that I dance with I can barely look in the eye let alone give a "come hither" look.
I also don't know what determines when I flash "the look." LOL-- apparently I'm going to be no help to you whatsoever! :D I just do it at certain points in the dance-- when I'm dancing there are certain points, if I have a good connection with my partner, where it just feels right.

I thought "the look" was automatically developed at puberty. That's when I got mine. Just as natural as breathing. Hmm.

rotfl love2swing and pygmalion! Glad I didn't have you around when I was going through puberty  'All I got to look at and practice THE look on were my books :( ' lol so just as girls at THAT age compare how other aspects are developing, I would not have noticed whether I was growing wings or fish scales :?

[flash panic at the realization of soon being subject to "the look" as I'm thrown back into play]

Will Google for Google'ing's sake.

"the look" does come naturally for me, but I have to relax more with people I am not romantically interested in. I usually stop myself, for fear of giving the wrong impression.

More than 20 years ago, Johnny Carson showed a French commercial for Wassermann pens featuring school children about 8 years old. The boy is directed to sit down by the girl and when she sees his Wassermann pen she gives him such an incredibly devastating "the look" that it seduces the pen right out of his hands.
It's positively frightening to imagine what she could be capable of now.
PS
As I recall, she pulled a subtle variant of the good old "bend-and-snap". After establishing initial eye contact, she looked away, then with face lowered she slowly brought her head back in his direction and snapped her head back up hitting him right between the eyes with "the look". Poor kid never knew what had hit him.

I think some people just come by it naturally.
When I was ten years old, I was a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding. When we got back the wedding photos, guess what a few people who saw them said? "wow, she's going to know how to go after her man. She's got that look." I was ten, for pete's sake, and much more interested in Barbies than boys. For some people, the look is tuned in automatically. *shrug*

It's not fluttering your lashes that does the trick. It's f l u t t e r i n g your l a s h e s. Timing is everything. LOL!

there's no practicing being sexy/attractive.. the eyes are mirrors to whats inside.. and if the inside is not sexy then .. u r better off not trying cause then its gona look bad.. but of course this is relative and where some might think u look like a epiliptic psycho others may like it.. go figure
but if it is 8) .. then anyway u look will be one form or another of ''the look'' .. its nature so dont mess with it 8)

 rotfl so, that is what I have been doing wrong, fluttering my lashes to the clave rather than f l u t t e r i n g them as if they are waltzing.
I think I got it
Hey Sabor. Can I try out my 'new look' and you let me know what you think  'cause you know that I am all sweetness  or maybe that is the 'problem'. Sweetness does not equal sexy  :D
PS: Could you tell me which one of these looks is your 'come hither' one please  http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0304/spezial/Fool/bath.gif  I love that smilie

The ladies seem to get tickled when they dance merengue with me. (I think that I have a unique styling.) I've even seen them pointing me out on the dance floor. :)

"The look, of love, is in, your eyes;
The look that love can't disguise."
(I think this song was written by Burt Bachrach and first sung by Dionne Warwick.)

What is the saying DancePoet? The eyes are the window to the soul?
Well! I had a lesson in flirting/"come-hither" yesterday from my nine month old nephew  a friend's seven month old daughter visited and mister man was making eyes at this seven month old girl   She has these huge blue eyes.
They were both trying to wave their hands at each other, they were beautiful.
