So what do you do about dance shoes? Buy them to fit the larger foot? The smaller foot? Use insoles or orthotics? Buy two different sized shoes? Always wear sandals? Does anybody have this problem and a workable solution?

Depends how big the big foot is compared to the small. if a big difference then buy 2 pairs and sel the unused mismatched pair on ebay I've seen several mismtach pairs there and they sell for good $$$

Having been in the shoe business, you almost have to fit the larger foot. Some people even have to special order a mismatched pair. You can get a fit for both sizes and then order a different size for left and right. It takes longer and costs a little more, but is sometimes necessary for certain people.

For an extra $15, you can buy pairs of shoes at this place in two different sizes.

One word: ouch!
My left foot is wider (AND left leg shorter by 2cm :x ) so it always hurts more.
The difference between my two feet arn't enough to warrant different sizes *phew*!
Solution? Go barefooted whenever possible.

Yes. My right foot is slightly larger, but not enough to warrant two different sized shoes. I always fit by the right foot, but sometimes I can be quite uncomfortable, right or left, depending on the cut of the shoe style. I haven't really found a solution for dance shoes, although I'm considering a pair of custom made shoes (still looking for a vendor.)
For everyday shoes, since I live in a warm climate, I wear sandals almost all the time. When it's colder, I like big comfy toe boxes, like the ones on Rockport walking shoes. They seem to give me the most flexibility.
btw, from what I've read, most people have one foot or the other that's slightly larger, just not enough to be noticeable. People really aren't symmetrical, for the most part. :?

I also have different sizes... not by much, but it sometimes feel uncomfy... what I do for normal shoes I take them to fit the larger foot, but I always have dance shoes made to fit me :)

I'm beginning to think that may be the best option. The ready-made shoes may come in two different sizes, but that still doesn't ensure they'll fit. AND if you special order them, they're not returnable. :?
