Hey Everyone,

I'm new here and I've got a concern that just about every new poster seems to have...

I need help dancing.

I'm not a horrible dancer, I like dancing a lot, only I'd like to get good at dancing to rap and R&B. Whenever I go to a party or a club, there are always a few guys break dancing in the middle that then dancing with whoever they want.

Now my questions are 1) Should I start to learn how to break dance like that, then get to the griding and approaching part? 2) What type of dancing is dancing to Rap/R&B called (I couldnt see what type in the dancespots website). 3) Does anyone know any good dancing instructors in the MD/VA/DC area?

Thanks a ton everyone, any help is much much appreciated!

Check out dcdancenet.com - you'll find all the studios in the area. Salsa is a really hot dance with the young crowd (ok, the not so young like it to). Almost all the studios offer it. Join a studio or two for some group classes to find the dance you like.

The problem I'm having with that website is I cant tell which studies teach R&B/Rap...

I think i'd like to first learn "urban" dancing just because that's the type my friends are into to.

I think you need to ask your friends if they have taken any lessons and where did they go...... i was trying to direct you to what is available in the area. Wouldn't it be cool to learn salsa or other dance that might be useful for years to come instead of R&B/Rap, which sounds like a seasonal dance type thing. Any dance experience in general will help you.
If all else fail, try google search.
