ok, I know there is a previous thread on this...I do, I promise I do TC. Cannot locate it. I'm just almost sick..gag...when I look at my white ostrich feather dress and see my teachers black costume dye that transferred to my dress when we danced standard last weekend.
The white is lycra and yes..of course..it's the hmmm eerrrr chest area...trying to be discret here..stop laughing (you know who you are!).
Suggestions? This dress is going to Ohio with me and I really need to get this dye transfer out out out I SAY:cool:

Are you certain it's the dye, and not just tiny fibers?

What if the dress is not white (i.e. lemon yellow)?

on my yellow gown I used tide and a toothbrush on the spot and/or some oxy clean

Well, most ballgowns are made of synthetic fabrics, in which the color is "baked" in, not dyed, so they should be more or less color fast. Obviously a person should test in an inconspicuous spot, but the odds are pretty good.

I've cleaned lots of standard dresses with these stains and I've used Oxyclean and Granny's Spot Remover from the fabric store. I also restone this area (and the left side to match) more heavily in a pattern to make it harder to get a stain a second time. Lavender or purple amethyst is the complementary color to yellow - try adding in some purple stones to hide any leftover dye. If you PM me a photo, I can give you restoning suggestions.
