I like to go to C&W social dances and even compete in C&W . . . well . . . used to compete. I have had, and still do, a hard time doing a WCS to C&W music . . . even really good ones with a solid beat and great breaks - i.e., Shania Twain/"Feel Like A Woman."

I know . . . just listen to the beat . . . but I like to do my WCS dancing to real swing music - Benny Goodman, Glen Miller, etc or newer stuff - R. Kelly, Michael Jackson.

C&W doesn't have this bass guitar drive that I need. I "feel" that bass, and the new classes of WCS teaches are emphasizing that the bass sets the beat . . . not the drummer . . . and I agree!

Anyone else have this problem??? A cure? A thought?

I know what you mean, Vince. C&W music makes me feel ... uh ... bouncy and on top of the floor. "Real" swing music (I hope you know I'm cringing as I use that term LOL) makes me feel grounded, sexy, slinky and more West Coasty. I'm not sure why. Maybe it is the bass line. I'll have to give a listen, and see what I feel.

Good description Jenn . . . that's a good way of saying what I feel . . . with C&W music, I feel straight up and "on top of the floor."

I really like contemporary, Hip Hip, R&B, and (cringing like you) - 'swing' music.

Off topic . . . do you know why C&W posts do not appear in the text in the upper middle of the page . . . just to the right of the Dance Forums block?

Yes... because this forum didn't exist when the script for what to display was put in place. We'll get that changed soon.

(See AnnieMarie, he's still championing the C&W cause!)
