View Full Version : When the music just won't stop...

Okay, I know this sounds really weird, but almost every time I go dancing, I can not get the music out of my head even hours after I've come home. I'll leave the dance, come home, go to bed, and then for the next few hours I can still hear the music - it's like my brain is running down the playlist of everything I've heard that night!
Sometimes it's all right and I can still fall asleep, but other times (like last night) I just couldn't sleep because of all the music! And then when I finally fall asleep, all my dreams involve dancing, and then I wake up more tired than I was when I went to bed.
I know this probably sounds bizarre, but it's true. Has this ever happened to anyone else???

Sometimes the music stops, but other times it won't.
That's why there's Dance Forums.
Master the madness... or at least share it with friends

That's the beauty of it! :P
I go to bed, wake up in the morning and before I even open my eyes I can hear my favorite cumbia and bachata from the last night! I mean I love it, wake up with energy cuz I get excited cuz... life's just so good with dance 'n music :)

"La música no quiere parar
La música no quiere parar"
"Candela" by Noelia
Sorry, but that Rock en Español song popular a few years ago just sprang immediately to mind: "The music doesn't want to stop, the music doesn't want to stop!"
I think we've all been there. I'm just glad I'm able to have that problem now.
Rather than offer a link to the lyrics, I think you should Google for it instead so that you would have the option to have the lyrics translated.

That's funny - I had a similar experience Friday night. I was salsa dancing at a club until about 1:30, and got to bed at two. I fell asleep OK, but dreamed about dancing salsa and woke up at 6:30 (normal work wakeup time) with the salsa music running through my head so I couldn't go back to sleep! (Of course I was also hungry)

Yes, it happens to me. When I go to bed, my head's full of salsa music, which sometimes makes it difficult to fall asleep, sometimes not (it used to be really difficult but I think I'm getting used to it). Often I'm still at a dance in my dream, and when I wake up, salsa music starts in my head. I think this is actually quite common. Nothing bizarre at all. I know quite a few people who say they can't go straight to bed after a dance and need an hour or so to wind down and get the music out of their head. Some of them listen to salsa music in their car only on the way out and play something else (something calmer) on the way back after dancing.

I'm one of those people.
If I go out locally I usually go on bicycle and the ride home then often clears out my head, but if it's further away and i'm in a car or it's been a very exciting night I'll need a some time at home to wind down; have a drink, sit on the couch, listen to the quiet, sometimes i'll even watch infomercials for a bit at night just so I get bored and can get to sleep.
(and for those of you who remember Bob Ross)
I also remember some years ago, when I went out, if I stayed till closing time, then just by the time I got home, there would be a rerun of 'Painting with Bob Ross' on TV, just perfect for winding down.

Whew! I'm glad I'm not the only one who's experienced this! :D I appreciate all your feedback - maybe I'll have to go find some Bob Ross videos to watch after dancing.
One night when the music wouldn't stop I had a cool dream that I was dancing to a very WCS song (can't think of the name, but it's very popular, they play it at every WCS dance I've been to), but I was dancing Lindy to it, and it worked quite well! Made me wonder if I ought to try it in real life... (the other weird part of the dream was that the dance cost $25, and I paid my way in with a $25 bill, which in my dream was perfectly legit...)
Here's to many future music-filled nights!

I usually just replace the song with another song that I like. Or if not, something really annoying (like this (http://www.ebaumsworld.com/shebangs.html)) or addictively cute (like this (http://www.ebaumsworld.com/kittycatdance.html)).
