Have you ever had that "in the spotlight" feeling, either literally or figuratively, as if the whole room was watching while you danced? What did you do? How did it make you feel? Conspicuous? Embarrassed? High on life and ready to show off?

How did you get that feeling, and what did you do? 8) :D

Most of the dancers here have probably had both. I prefer the figurative variety, when you and a partner are grooving on the social dance floor and you just know that you are being watched.
I actually like it. It makes me want to give the dance everything I have. Yes I would even say it makes me want to "show off" a bit.
I don't like the literal spotlight. Mostly because in the literal spotlight there is some expectation and you could "screw it up"

as long as my partner doesn't mind, i have no problem being part of the only couple on the floor. happens all the time at holiday work parties (and i always bring a date who dances).

last friday i noted a few extra folks eyeing (sp?) me during a dance, but i'm sure that dancing with a celebrity (she's been a main character on several successful sitcoms, this is LA) had the most to do with it - and the fact that i persuaded her to put her dance shoes back on as she was on her way out the door! :P

I constantly *feel* in the spotlight (whether I desire to be there or no). I guess that stems from having taught some of the people I see dancing socially, I feel super self conscious. Funny thing is, I was just talking about this with Hubby after last USABDA dance... Hmmmm....
