Ok, the charter members of this group are d nice and myself...he's always lurking about when I'm logging in at 2 or even 3 in the morning.
I do, however, need a ruling from the masses on whether I should include Danish Guy as a charter member or not…he’s often checking in at the same time but, given the time zone difference to Denmark, should he qualify as one of “us”?
Anyone else looking for official club membership?

Well this forum is d nice and d interesting,
So I will hang around, contributing with what I can,
And learn a thing or 2.

We're not going to play favorites are we???
I say "Why not," especially when he can manipulate words the way he just did. Tells me that he can write. Now we can find out if he can dance as well as he can write.
My vote is "YES."

I'm not so much an insomniac as just a night person. I don't go to bed until after 3am most of the time... and my computer is right next to my bed, makes posting easy.

Hhmmmm.... I don't know what to say!
I'm not always up so late... I just got home late tonight.
Soon I'll be on East Coast time and won't even qualify.
I am greatly honored!! I'm just afraid I will not be able to live up to such a responsibility!
Thanks SDsalsaguy

Not to worry – Vince has weighed in suggesting that Danish Guy’s time zone location shouldn’t be held against him, so I can’t see how the same shouldn’t apply to you as well!
Where on the East Coast are you off to anyway?

I'm going to Connecticut.
for one, I won't be up late while I'm there (at least I "shouldn't") and for two the time zone difference would not work in my favor... i.e. it would have to be after 4:30 in the morning for my posting to register as late as they are right now.
Although I guess I could post in the morning then have it seem really late here... but can I be an insomniac after a restful night's sleep?

What's taking you to Connecticut? And Danish guy is even further in the same direction so, if Vince's logic holds, why shouldn't it apply to you as well?

Okay, I give. I don't need to be agrumentitive. So what does membership to this exlusive club mean anyway? Do I get a T-Shirt? A Secret Decoder Pin? Do I have to pay dues? Send in box tops?

Hmmm, hadn't gone that far yet...we're just getting our core membership established at the moment. Any ideas? If your inclined to pay dues I guess the least I could do would be to accept  (Same goes for box tops too I guess...but make sure its some brand that John can find in Denmark too, Ok?)

Embassy was great, especially the Sunday night session, which was absolutely fantastic! The Pro Rhythm and Pro Latin were on the same night and the national champs in each style were there...on top of which the show that night was by the current Ballroom champions...for a total of seeing the current champions in all three disciplines all in one night!!!!! Awesome.
USDSC was great too....just got back to CA a couple of hours ago. Unfortunately I stayed up too late last night and somehow managed to leave my car and house keys in my room safe, so getting back into my apartment proved a little more complicated and time consuming then anticipated... :?
I'll post some reviews/comments in the Ballroom Forum within the next day or two...

Don't forget that I did stipulate "on too regular a basis." An occasional night's sleep is allowed...even for hard core IRU members!
Aw man...I guess that leaves me out then! After being an insomniac for many years...I love my sleep! Even my noisy neighbors, my bedroom window facing a parking lot that rattles when people shut their car doors...none of it phases me anymore.
Nothing will keep me from my precious sleep time...well *ahem*...on those very rare occasions if I happen to have a lady in my life....heh heh...who needs sleep?   :D

Well, my sleep patterns are very traditional. There's nothing like getting up at 6 am to do yoga and meditate, now is there? But yes, I'm out of the IRU for sure now. :P
The odd part is...while I'm a morning person...I'm also a night person. I can stay up all night, even a day or two...no problem! It's a strange paradox indeed.
There is a lot to be said for healthy sleep patterns! I wouldn't feel bad if I were you! I'd probably flaunt it... well, maybe not a lot... but I'd sure be happy about it!

"Hey there beautiful, have we met before? Here's my number, but if you want to go out with me, you have to call before 10 pm."
"I really enjoyed dancing with you tonight...and you'd like to invite me over your place? That's great...but its already midnight and way past my bedtime. How's tomorow for you?"
"Oh, so you have a boyfriend? Does he have what I've got? Does he get up at 6 am everyday and get 8 hours of sleep? No? Well it's time to ditch him sweetie, and hook up with a REAL man!"

Yeah, but nothing makes you feel so irresistable as a guy who you've been dating (note* lower case "d") coming over to watch a movie at a quarter after 6 pm and is out the door by a quater after nine. -- on a FRIDAY night!

SK, Sarah,
I really don't use pickup lines...but I think you figured that out. :)
On a Friday night at 9 pm? Maybe he had to do his nails or something...just kidding! Hmm, well I was courting a gal a while back that would tell me precisely everything she was doing after a date. We'd go out from 2-6 pm...and each hour after our date she had time reserved for something else.
When she called me once to remind me of our "lunch appointment" I realized that it was time to set sail for more welcoming seas. How unromantic can you get?!?!?!

Lower case d? What denotes upper case D material? Just curious ... Does he have to stay til eleven to get promoted to upper case? Inquiring minds want to know. 8) (I need an emoticon for raised eyebrows. Is there one?)

Jenn,
An uppercase "D" does not come with staying late... althought the two may often coincide. However coincidental it may be, it's not a pre-requisite or a requirement. The big D suggests more of a bf/gf relationship-- in my mind at least.
I know that just because a guy needs to leave early on a friday night it does not mean he is not interesed... although it's a fairly good indication! He literally shook my hand when he left!
I think as much as he would like someone to be with he is not seeking "involvement" with me. He's a nice person but I don't think he'd miss a football game let alone an evening with his buddies to spend time with me. He doesn't have to-- but a guy that I would want to be involved with would by his own will, naturally.
We had gone on a couple of dates... more than one but a real relationship has not developed... hence lower case 'd' dating. ;)

If the guy doesn't have enough discernment to know that time with you is more important that an evening with his buddies, he's not a keeper anyway. .... Handshake? HANDSHAKE? I oughta come to CT and beat him up for you. :x You tell him I said, the next time he comes over he'd better be prepared to shake something a little more interesting or else don't bother. Definitely not upper case anything material.

Hmm...I had a lady give me a handshake after a date once...and only once with all of the ladies I've had the pleasure of spending time with. Even if I met someone that made me want to run screaming...I always ended the date with a hug to let them know I appreciated their hanging out with me.
But a handshake? I didn't know quite what to say after that...needless to say that was our first and only date. :)

I don't want to paint a negative picture. He is a nice person. He's the quiet librarian type... he actually is a librarian! I wouldn't want him beaten up! ;) and personally I don't want him to shake anything he doesn't want to
I wish him the best.

Okay, SK. I won't throttle him on your behalf. Darn! I was looking forward to channeling some of my hostility into that one. :? Seriously, though, disinterested librarian-type of not, he'd have to have been under a rock his whole life not to know that some show of affection is customary at the end of a date, however early it ends. He owes you at least a little hug or two. No, he doesn't have to shake anything he doesn't want to, but he does have to treat you with respect. And that's true whether he's looking for a committed relationship or just company to watch a video with.
Heck, I have tons of guy- and girl-friends I hang out with, and rarely greet anyone hello or goodbye without at least a hug or one of those "in the air by the cheek" kisses. Maybe he's not real touchy-feely, but he could endure one hug in order not to hurt or offend you.
Just let me know if and when you need me to fly up there and defend your honor. I have eight nieces, a couple of them older than you, and I am well experienced in defending the honor of sweetie-pies like you. :D

Due to the antics of certain rable rousing forum members I propose that the IRU nickname shoud be the NSG club. While allways the Insomniacs-R-Us club I think it suitable to be recognized as the Not scorpionguy club as well!
