Fast songs... Ahhhhhh.... I'm into smooth and groove dancing so fast dancing doesn't appeal to me... Not to say that a dancer can't be smooth and groove to a fast song, I just prefer not to

Here are some...
Timbalero - Gran Combo
Vamonos Pa'l Monte - Eddie Palmieri

Both overplayed here in NY, to the point that Imma jump the DJ if they play it again.

Aguanile - Lavoe -- Fast, slow, fast, slow... I'm tired
La banda - Spanish Harlem Orquestra
Sonido Bestial - Richie Ray, Bobby Cruz
Cachondea - Fruko

Get a CD by Frankie Dante Y Los Flamboyan... However, your shines repertoire better be upthere because you'll find yourself doing a lot of solo-shines... from Sabroson, to Rumberos, to Mombo Jumbo, to Beethovens V, they are all pretty wild.

If you need more by all means ask away...

You seem to know a lot of song titles. I was just woundering if you knew the name of a song that goes "toro, toro, vamos a bailar el Toro". That is the only part of the song I remember and I know it starts out really slow and picks up the pace to really fast. if you know the title please respond. it would really be gratly apreciated.

Most all the titles on the" Dance Meltdown " c.d. plus 2 tracks on Ericks Exitos album-- Also , fast is a very relative term-- hope these fit your needs ( p.s. , whats the occasion ?)

I won't duplicate any of the songs that have already been mentioned, but here are a few more fast ones:

Quimbara -- Celia Cruz
Soy El Rey -- Sonora Carruseles
Indestructible -- Ray Barretto

Your description of a "toro" song that starts slow and picks up the pace reminds me of "El Torero" by Orquesta Guayacan -- although their version of the song doesn't contain the specific words you mentioned (and I couldn't find that phrase on Google). How certain are you about those lyrics? Or, is it possible that you heard the song from a live band who may have improvised some of the lyrics?

Isn't "Soy el Rey" more like boogalu?

I know there are references in the song to boogalu (just like in "Micaela"), but it still sounds like Salsa to me.

What's the musical difference between boogalu and Salsa?

Imagine someone who grew up playing salsa and cha cha cha music heard motown soul and thought "****! gotta update my sound!" (but in spanish obviously :-) )

Lots of Latin Boogaloo sounds like a '60s soul sound with added Latin percussion.

Boogaloo (without the "Latin" part) is related to blues and boogie, but that's outside of my range of interests so I don't know how they relate, if at all.

Mama Guelo by Fania Allstars is not pure salsa but it's quick... so quick various precussionists can't keep up at various points... lots of energy!

Que Bueno Baile Usted by Tito Puente is quick, and starts with a timbale solo - guaranteed to get me up dancing!
