My instructor and I are putting together a cha cha routine to do at a competition in November. We have decided to change the song, however, we don't know what to yet. I'm supposed to come up with some suggestions tonight, and he's going to think about it as well. Well, I am going to let a shameful secret out right now-- I am a HUGE Britney Spears fan   . I will also be performing this for my friends at a studio party later on, and they would all get a huge kick out of it if my cha cha was to a Britney Spears song (as would I!). Now, I don't know if you guys know much of Britney's music, but by some long shot, do you know of there is a Britney song that would work as a cha-cha?
If not Britney, some other suggestions for a good, playful, kinda flirty cha cha are welcome as well. Thanks! (and please don't exile me! )

Hi Love2Swing. Check out the  Music Directory (http://www.dance-forums.com/md.php?mode0=viewcat&u=7)
There are about 22 Cha-Cha songs. Maybe there is something in there that you like. :)

Hi Love2Swing, have you looked at other music threads?
Your favorite cha-cha (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=4866)
Cha cha music (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=4094)
"Pop" music you can ballroom dance to (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=3235)

Like Twnkltoz already hinted at, a lot of her work is pretty standard tempo four quarter stuff, to which you should have no problem doing a cha cha.
Also, if you're a britney fan (don't worry, we won't hold it against you :P ) i'm assuming you have her cd's, so just put them on and try doing a cha cha to it, if you find one that you like and works, go with it.

I'm not positive but I think maybe one of her old songs, "You drive me crazy", may be a cha. I pretty sure "Boys" (feat. Pharell) and "I'm a slave for you" are also (again, im not 100% postive), however both are pretty slow. If you like christina agulara, "Dirty" is a great cha. If you like Pink, "Get the party started", and of course there is always the infamous "Lady Marmalade". Hope this helps!

I dont know about Britney, I cant recall ever hearing a cha cha in any of her songs, but for a fun, flirty one you could try Christina Aquileras Come On Over and it falls under the tempo guidelines of Int. Cha (I have heard it used at 2 major comps here)
Good Luck with it.

I'm like, totally embarrassed to know any Britney Spears songs. It's because my daughter used to like her, I swear!

Well, we did the first little over a minute that we have done of our routine tonight at a studio party. We didn't change the song this time around-- but we may for November. Anyway, I just wanted to post because, we totally nailed it tonight! We had a lesson and worked through it earlier today, and it was a complete diaster so I was really worried about performing it tonight. But, for whatever reason it all came together. :D Just excited and had to post!

That's great Love2Swing!!!!!
I just added some titles in the Music Directory for Cha Cha. Take a listen to Joe Torres' CD-Latino Con Soul
It's not Britney but this CD has a variety of Cha Cha tempos just in case you need them later.
