Is this the evidence that there is other life out there  New Scientist magazine has reported that an unexplained radio signal from space has been picked up. The signal has been picked up three times in Puerto Rico (I wonder if they were listening on the salsa  ) For the astronomers here, the signal came from a point between the constellations of Pisces and Aries

The New Scientist has tried to suggest another way of 'explaining' the signal saying that it could have been generated by a hitherto unknown astronomical phenomenon or be a by-product from the telescope itself.

Apparently astronomers are excited though. The signal was "broadcast on the main frequency at which the universe's most common element, hydrogen, absorbs and emits energy, and which astronomers say is the most likely means by which aliens would advertise their presence."

The signals were picked up through project called SETI@home which "uses programmes running as screensavers on millions of personal computers worldwide to sift through the huge amount of data picked up by the telescope."

Hmmm. Here I was thinking that there fellow beings from my planet here at DF already

Lol! Silly!

There was an interesting article (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=2026&ncid=2026&e=7&u=/latimests/20040901/ts_latimes/astronomersfind1strockyplanetsbeyondsolarsystem) about a couple of new planets that were discovered recently.

Actually the little green men have landed in Egypt, where they have been learning how to dance Salsa from Sabor, meanwhile he's convinced them that he should return to their planet and seduce all their females! :D

Tom Cruise, 42, has joined forces with director Steven Spielberg to star in a film trilogy of the HG Wells novel, The War Of The Worlds.

HG Wells's 1898 novel tells the story of Martians whose planned attack on London is scuppered when they succumb to the common cold.

A Paramount source said: 'Steven wants to make the film of the decade.'

Looks like I am not the only one thinking about aliens
