Thought I'd let everyone know of an interesting competition to be held in Singapore on 2/26/2005. Jukka & Sirpa, Crossley & Lyn will be performing guests. They're also available for coaching, along with Lindsey Tate (who'll be the head adjudicator).

FREE hotel for 2/25 & 2/26 (competition is on 2/26) for foreign competitors! Entry fee I think is S$60 (roughly $40USD). Deadline is 1/10/05.

Hope we have more supporters from this side of the world to join this exciting overseas competition.

DANG! Now if we only had the $4000USD for airfare.....

They've got specials now , a little over $800USD per coach ticket. So it'd be less than $2000USD for 2 people - the end costs is probably not too much different from going to our US Nationals :) And if you travel like I do :) I've got miles that I can cash in (but of course, lots of times no direct flights, but still...)

Well.... We only fly Singapore Air when we go to SE Asia.... And there are 4 of us.... And we fly from a secondary market (Orlando, FL) so our cost is pretty steep.

We flew at low season last year (just after labour day) and it was $3600 for two adults, 1 60% fare child and 1 10% fare infant from Orlando --> Jakarta via NYC/Frankfurt/Singapore on SQ.

I checked Singapore Airlines the other day when I first heard about the event and got quote of $973 per person from San Francisco to Singapore at the time of the event. Cathay Pacific was about $843 SFO->SIN round trip.

However, a ticket on Singapore Airlines from Orlando with the domestic legs on Delta via Newark is $1574. Orlando to SFO is running about $440, so catching a Singapore flight in that direction is still over $1400 per person.

I'm suprised that the domestic ticket from Orlando to SFO is so much!

It's actually a much easier trip flying from NYC or EWR rather than going 5.5 hours cross country on some lame-o domestic carrier. 2 hours and I'm in NYC and then the rest of my trip is in super comfy economy deluxe... Where I'm treated far better than I would be in First Class on Delta or any other US carrier (and for far less $$$ I might add).

Anyone want to know what i *really* think of domestic airlines????
