Uh hi. I wanted to join a dancing forum so I searched on google and found this.
Yeah
Anyways I''ve been doing Swing for a few months now and it's really awesome. ANd I've been getting more and more into dance.
One of my reasons is our High School is doing Cabaret for our musical and I want to the lead who needs to be able to dance and so it gave me a good excuse.
Yeah. I only know a few moves and I'm not sure what style we're even doing but it's fun nonetheless.
I live right by Santa Cruz if anyone knows where that is.

Santa Cruz, California? Welcome to df and good luck with getting the part.. When do you audition? Check out bustamove.com and see if the swing you do is any of the styles shown. Then perhaps you can let us know what type of swing you know/do.

Hi Sardoth:
You are in a pretty good place for Swing Dancing. The Palomar Ballroom has Swing Classes at various times. There is a non-commercial web site - santacruzswingclub.com for info on the swing dancing scene in SC. Lot of stuff going on over the hill: Cubberley, Starlite, SW Dance, SJ Dancesport come to mind. In Monterey, there is Jason & Kris, Pat Eodice, Monterey Dance.
In a couple of weeks there is the Monterey Swingfest which I understand is a pretty big event.
So your swing dance plate is pretty full. 8) But if you really want to have fun, the Santa Cruz Salsa scene is great! One Rueda Circle and you'll forget all that Jittery Lindy stuff (sorry swingsters.)

Hehe, the Swing Teacher at the Palomar is the Tnago and Salsa teacher at the place I take most of mine.
Basically right now I've only taken a good bit of Swing.
So I'm going to continue with that, maybe also take the one at the Palomar. I want to take tango and maybe salsa at the place I'm at.
How do you know all this? Where are you from?
Technically I live in Scotts Valley(I take lessons at the International Academy Of Dance if you know it) but it's only 20 minutes away from us plus Scotts Valley is most comprised of either up tight rich republicans. Or slutty rich republicans for the most parts.

I live just outside of Watsonville and work in Salinas, so I only get to Santa Cruz once or twice a month as it is a major pain to drive there. If your teacher is Mario, you are in good hands.

Yeah Mario's our tango and salsa teacher. XD
You know him? I'm planning to go to Salsa and Tango tomorrow I can give him a greeting if you know him XD.
Here I was thinking that no one would live even slightly close. Wow.

I've only taken a couple of group classes from him, but they were alot of fun.
I don't think many locals read this board, but Silicone Valley has one of the best partner dance scenes in the country.
