Well since I always see at least twice as many guests looking at the forums as members I figured I would post this.
All of us here at Dance Forums would love for you all to sign up! It doesn't take long and we'd love to hear from you! As you can see we have a lot to discuss so....

I agree. This forum is a way fun place to be, and the more people participate, the more fun it gets. Plus, the ten or twelve most active people can only come up with so many thought-provoking and witty threads before they run out of steam!
Come on you guys. Sign up. Please. 8) :D

Ditto to everything that's been said above . . adding . . . if you are a dancer or a wannabe dancer, come on in and join in on the fun!
We need dancers and student dancers, choreographers, dance teachers, and everyone who is just thinking about dancing. We need your input. We want you to have all the dance fun that we at Dance-Forums has on a daily basis. Almost all dance information contributes toward making this site even more successful than it already is!
We don't have all the questions or answers, but just maybe . . . you do!

Hey...just had a FAB idea. Next time I get a chance to update my site, I'll add a big promo for the dance forum. I promote my site (or try to at least) everywhere. People from the various dance classes I take are regulary on the site and are always looking for new dance ideas and topics...my guess is they'll wander over here. :D
ALL GUESTS SHOULD SIGN UP FOR THIS FORUM...IT IS AN ABSOLUTE BLAST!!!
One small caution...it's very addictive!

Dance forum business cards...GREAT idea. I'm going to two decent sized events in my area including tap, jazz, ballet, and belly. Perhaps we can start some more forums with these styles of dance.
Really like the cards idea...I'll have to make some up and pass them out in class.
Ooh...I can take them to my line dance club as well.
So many ideas...so little time!

Hello Martita! Welcome to the forums!!! How long have you been dancing and what drew you to salsa? Hmmm... I've never danced in LA myself but I'm sure there are plenty of people here who can help you out! In the mean time I'll poke around the forums and see if I can find anything already posted!
Swing Kitten
09-26-2003, 11:00 PM
Alright, at first glance I didn't find anything for the LA area so.... when in doubt, GOOGLE IT!!
I found the Pasadena Ballroom Dance Association-- of course because I have not had any experiences with them I cannot "reccommend" them but that was one that came up rather pronouncedly when I did a google search. Of course there could be someone here who knows more about the situation. Let us know what you find and how the experience is for you! Best Luck to you and keep us posted!

Hello Martita, and welcome to the forums! Friday's usually a pretty slow night for the forums, since it's a big going-out-to-dance night. Thank goodness for SwingKitten! :D
This weekend, we'll scout around and see if we can get you even more recommendations of places to go and other resources. :D
Thanks for joining us. Good to have you with us.

I've never been there myself, but if it's anywhere nearbye I highly recomend Lets Dance L.A. Yay!!! Sign up. I'd been lurking for ages and while there's plenty to be gleaned from lurking, it's far better to be a member because then you can respond and interact...it's quite distressing reading something on the forums as a guest and having the "reply" button disabled!!! Besides, everyone's really, really lovely and friendly and nobody bites...unless you ask them to! :)

Just so you know...I am always in as a guest, except when I am considering a reply to a post. There probably are other DFers out there who lurk in stealth mode, pop out to respond, and then slip back into guest mode. There is Taita, and then there is me. Must be some others?!? :)

As a new member of this forum and from experiences with other forums, I would like to say:
This forum is definitely one of the most welcoming forums I've seen. I haven't noticed any cliques and it's so great that everyone comes from all over the WORLD!!! I can tell that the people here really want to just spread the news about different kinds of dancing and no one has to feel intimidated at all. Questions are genuine and answers are accepted! No one is being shot down or ignored... I feel very welcome and accepted to this dancing community, and it's SO GREAT!

atm, we got quite a lot of newbies coming in, that's at least what the stats say. It's amazing that over 90 percent of this forum are in the first three stages.
1 Just Arrived 0 - 2 3230 74%
2 New in Town 3 - 9 525 12%
3 Commoner 10 - 24 219 5%
It also looks if quite a bunch of newcomers are not anymore just from the us. What do you think? Is that just my impression?

though, just looking a little more at the stats, the top posters, or those who keep the posting going in the forum are definetly not the newbies.

Hmm. I think there was an old thread here about college ballroom teams that might interest her ...

No. I just "met" her via a few exchanged posts yesterday. She seems like a nice person, and I don't want her first posts -- in the ads forum, to get deleted. So she needs to start posting somewhere else, not just lurking or logging in. 8)

Just for the record, SUZIE started a thread. She's a lurker no more. 8) :D
But yeah, take a look at the number of guests or the number of views per thread sometime. If the people who've registered but not posted bother you, just consider how many people lurk but never even register. I bet that's the majority of DF "traffic."

Lol... Our school isnt advanced enough to have wireless! We will be in the coputer lab a couple days a week writing papers though, and so all Ill have to do is tweak a couple of settings ( :) Yay for lazy network admins, and remote servers!) And DF will be "just a click a way"
Actually it probably has less to do with school (as demonstrated by the fact I have loads of homework to do - making up cause im going to be missing tommorow and monday for an event weekend- and instead Im checking into DF), and more to do with the fact Im at my moms house, not my dads, where I was all summer, and my computer over here is slower than a slug!!!

lol, talking about lazy or inkompetent network admins. We had such a l00ser as admin. it was really fun. I haad installed a few programs. (xchat - irc chatting, putty - ssh client, drScheme - scheme write program). They closed my account, so that i couldn't log in. I didn't knew that, thought it was a problem with the network, and just used another user. They freaked out, and told the admin. He: "You probably had exe files on your account, that's why" Me: " i need them for college, they are programs to communicate to other students, and connecting to their computers, so that i can work on my homework in school", He: "oh, well than, fine, just put them into a folder called college and just put the programs you need in there".

I'm not saying you shouldn't take advantage of their lax behavior. Good for you. I'm glad you're having fun. 8) :D
I'm saying that downloading .exe files is risky, IMO, especially onto a networked (not standalone) computer. And, if I were your system administrator, I'd have given you one warning then kicked you off the system if you downloaded anything else. There are some nasty computer viruses out there, so I wouldn't particularly care about your right to chat. System security would some first. Sorry. That's just how I feel. *shrug* 8)

there is nothing like a right to chat. the only rights you have is to work on those computers. not more, not less. (and that just for school related stuff). So having external programs, that allow you chatting, are forbidden anyway. That's why it was so fun. i don't care about security in the network. That is there problem. if they have windows, they have to think about that, not me. I'd never use a windows system in a high school. way to dangerous!

Well, if he is the best, then why isn't Max from DWTS here posting??? Hehe... just kidding! He's probably afraid of me. :D
This is a great site! And just so you know, I don't think that guests should be allowed to post. I was on a web site where the guests would like somehow find their old friends and come and harass them in public for everyone to see that type of thing without having to sign up, and it was hard to stop the threads from coming. I would much rather prefer everyone to have to sign up before they can post, but that's just from my experience.
But once they do sign up, feel free to post away! I love this web site lol even without Max on here lol!
