Hi,
Just received this e-mail from a friend and I would like to share it with you, because it's so touching ...

This poem was written by a terminally ill young girl in a New York Hospital.

It was sent by a medical doctor - Make sure to read what is in the closing
statement AFTER THE POEM..........................

SLOW DANCE

Have you ever watched kids On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Do you run through each day On the fly?
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done Do you lie in your bed

With the next hundred chores

Running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste, Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time To call and say,"hi"
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift.... Thrown away.
Life is not a race. Do take it slower
Hear the music Before the song is over

You and your friend are victims of a very common hoax. Please do not propagate it any further (in fact, it would be best if you edited the original post to remove it).

For details see the invaluable Snopes (http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/children/mydek.asp) and the web page of the (very much alive) author of the poem, David Weatherford (http://www.davidlweatherford.com/slowdance.html).

No offense taken, it is just that after 20 years on the net, I have a finely tuned hoax-detector (Snopes is a great advance in the state of the hoax-detecting art since it allows quick verification instead of depending on one's memory :-)).

Hi jon,
Thanks for telling me about this, because when I first received it I felt it was such a meaningful article that I wanted to share ... I think I should be more careful next time when I want to post something ... Thanks very much, ^_^ ....
