In this morning's local paper. The studio featured is the one I attend; have to admit that I don't know offhand who Ernie is, but Ramona I dance with a lot and she's awesome. 8)

Yes...I wonder how many more people will eb attracted to dance with this new movie out. I do like that we are getting quite a few movies which seem to have dancing - whatever the quality is -- as it makes dance seem more an integral part of our societal social fabric. It is more likely that people will consiider doing it thsi way, I think... :)

Hmmm, do women equate dancing with intimacy?

I missed the anniversary Spitfire, but congratulations on reaching 2 years with the Dance Forums. (Spitfire was the first "regular" member to join and start posting to the best of my knowledge).
I would think that just standing close and dancing "feels" somewhat intimate to both sexes, and eye contact can increase this even more.

Yeah, I would say there is a certain amount of intimacy involved in dancing, at least just from what I have been perceiving so far.
I really do hope ballroom dancing becomes more regular, considering I find the current "cool" clubs to go to are all about grinding and no real dancing involved, but around here there aren't many choices when it comes to ballroom dancing, and I am lucky to get in 3 nights of dancing anywhere really. Its a shame considering I love ti so much now, but hopefully with these new movies integrating dancing into them, more people will get involved. I am actually trying to convince several of my guy friends to come with me to dance parties and such in the hopes of having people there with me, and them getting a bit more confidence around girls ^_^

There's more intimacy for me in looking someone in the eye than in shaking my booty at them.

I think in the movie what Hitch said was more along the lines of "women think they can tell what you are like as a lover by the way you dance"?
Hmm, there have been threads about this theory...
But yes, dance *can* be very intimate.

Depends on how one dances, I think. Women are more likely to do so with how I dance then some of my other friends who don't really connect.
