Sorry to hear about the car problem. Would have loved to see NY covered in white snow...Thanks. ACtually just the slight warming from the sun was enough to open the door....and thsi after I got everything together for my operation car recovery!!

This is the first time I'm actually glad I live in Texas. Frozen car locks are very rare, in my neck of the woods.
Frozen car locks? That's why you should always walk around with a cup of hot coffee in hand ! You never know  !! But don't forget the hose the key hole afterwards!

a random thought: why is there anything called TRADITIONS? why do we follow traditions? just becuz someone a long long time ago stated something and every oen followed him, why would we take it for granted as it is true!
who decided that skirts and dresses are for females? iit is unacceptable for a man to wear a dress, just becuz we r not used to it. what if that tradition stater stated that dresses are for men and pants are for ladies. i hate traditions.
My car is frozen. Yesterday night was parked at teh wrond side of teh street, but could not move. No ticket today! :-)
Went to dig up de-icer and found that I have can, but no straw...
Frozen car locks? I'd be happy just to have the car! :D
Rosa :)
PS: Glad you got it sorted out.

 Thanks. :)
A had an interesting experience today. On the way home, I stopped by the supermarket for dinner. I'm not picky. I just wanted something I didn't have to cook. I saw some gourmet cookies on sale and thought about buying a few dozen to share with my coworkers. I hesitated, but decided to go for it. Why not be nice, right?
As it turns out, the cookies rung up the wrong price in the computer, so I got all four dozen gourmet cookies free. The cashier and I agreed -- that was nature's way of reminding me to be thoughtful and kind, whenever I can. When you send good things out into the universe, good things come back. Not usually this quickly, but they do come back.yep....I'm not a big beleiver in labelling stuff like that when it happens but I do notice that it does and I do savor it....and you certainly deserve it...I hope you lap it up .....and I hope when its my turn I'll be buying margaritas:cool:

Yep. I know what you mean. I'm not much for labelling, either. Too many years of hearing people blame events on fate or God's will, I suppose. But I do believe that the universe of human interactions is a closed system. What you send out, you get back, eventually, I think. And all the better if what you get back is margaritas.

Amazing. Just amazing. We had, at the highest head, count 1,105 dancers!!!! It's unbelievable! Swing is back!!! It was a lot of beginners there for the free class and dancing, but there were also a ton of really excellent dancers, and everyone had a blast. I hope all the beginners keep coming back, it was awesome! (can you tell I'm excited?)

A very nice mix, I thought. Heavy on the mid-twenties, but there were plenty in their late teens, a few younger, and wide variety of people 30 through 60-ish. I think there were enough in each age range that if you felt inclined to hang out with a similar group, you could. I really didn't pay much attention, I was having too much fun dancing :p I'm working on getting some pictures and videos that I took online - I'll post here when it's up.

Edit: I checked out that website, T_E. Cool! I'll definitely consider them as an option. I'd rather find something local, to help avoid high shipping costs. But, if I can't gazebo depot has a very nice selection. At least very least, I have some ideas I can work with. :)

My dh says he is never moving again, he hates the whole process. I don't like the anxiety of waiting for a buyer or hoping the seller accepts our offer, but the rest of it is fun. Cleaning up and cleaning out before the move and then finding new places to put all the stuff in a new place.

That really is true, isn't it? A therapist was explaining to me once about how unsettling it can be for people who grow up in poverty to fall into money or improve their standard of living. She explained that even though poverty sucks, it's still a known quantity, as opposed to a change in one's circumstances which is by definition an unknown quantity.

Well, since I'm going to be a displaced person anyway, I think the time has come to realise my ambition to visit Latin America. I'm looking into language schools there - my Spanish is already quite good but there's always room for improvement. I'm looking into some courses that combine Spanish classes in the morning with Cuban salsa in the afternoon.

Actually, that happened to me. I grew up in poverty (I don't want you to think I was walking around without shoes or anything, but we were definitely poor), then I married a professional man with a high income, who came from a rich family.
We were married for a long time, but looking back, I realise that I never felt at home being part of his family. There was always some sort of mental barrier there - I couldn't understand them and their ways, and vice-versa. Yet, over time, it came to be a known quantity, and I suppose that's why I stuck it out far longer than was good for me.
I see now that material security had a lot to do with my marrying him in the first place (though I didn't think that at the time - I genuinely believed I loved him when I married him.) It's so easy to see things with hindsight, isn't it...
Anyway, I now understand where John Lennon was coming from when he wrote "I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love."
That's true, it can't buy you love, but walking out of this marriage now with half of our joint assets, I see that it can buy you freedom.

people are weird. Why the heck not wear hot pink? Because you're a grief counselor? That's ridiculous, at least in American culture. In some countries, color is very, very important, when it comes to the grieving process. But not here.
I'll never forget an old lady at my old church -- Sister Robinson, who was 85 when I last saw her, a couple years before she died. She wore red every day that I knew her. Period. And, from what I heard (I'd moved away) she wore red at her funeral, too, by her choice.
So hot pink doesn't work? Sounds like your client or his/her family has issues with accepting the possibility of mortality. Hmm. Not your fault. Sad. But not your fault. :?

There are way too many people running around looking for things to be offended at. At a place I worked at about ten years ago, one of my co-workers had a framed portrait of his DW in her wedding dress on his desk. She was a pretty lady, but it wasn't a wedding dress that was particularly revealing or anything. Someone complained that the presence of the photo constituted sexual harassment, and management forced him to remove it.

Pretty much the same way I taught 70 the last few semesters, just a little more crowded. :)
I don't worry much about technique in the feet beyond heel lead vs. toe lead - most of the technique I talk about is in terms of frame and leading/following. Obviously I can't be too picky.
Right now we're almost done with our first unit, which is foxtrot and salsa. I've managed to get them all to do a basic, left rock turn, and promenade walks with an underarm turn at the end in foxtrot. In salsa, they can do a basic, an underarm turn, and a cross body lead.
Ok, so their foxtrot looks a lot like walking and their salsa is a little sloppy. But they all follow line of dance in foxtrot and are mostly on time in both dances, and they can generally get through a whole song without stopping to regroup more than once or twice. They may not look great, but they can get through it and have fun, which is pretty much the point of this particular class. :)

I got two nights of really good sleep in a row. Yeah, that means I have no life, but whatever. I've been having trouble sleeping lately. I'll appreciate the rest when I go back to work tomorrow. Warm milk with nutmeg helps. ;-)

This week I feel like pushing my body, so I'm taking tons and tons of classes. I don't feel like going to my ballroom socials, but a certain someone is enough motivation for me. ;) Next week (7th Feb) I'm getting started with my exams. I hope I'll study enough to pass a couple of courses.

Fascination,
I work for a dentist. Dab a little vaseline inside the temporary and pop it back on. I'm hoping it's just cold sensitive, if so, getting the temporary back on will fix it - and get back in to your dentist soon to have it put on with temporary cement. I hope you get the permanent crown on soon!

There is a lot of sun here this morning so six more weeks of winter. Although as mild as it has been so far, I guess that won't be too bad. 52 degrees this afternoon - I haven't worn my cords and big heavy sweaters to work since the second week of December.

Right now, I have a google ad for a "dance" quilt. Not sure how it's related to dance, actually. I think it must be the name of the quilt pattern -- "Gypsy Dance" or something like that. (I'll have to ask my Mom or salsachinita.)
Gotta love google ads. Always a source of amusement. :)
