Is it possible to clump all the technique threads in one spot? It seems like they are spawning all over the place and at 24 pages of threads, it's hard to keep track of them all, kwim?

Maybe a sticky with a listing of Standard, etc in groups?

You mean all the cool ballroom threads that have been popping up lately? I can work on that (maybe next week -- I'm suffering DF overload today  )

Anybody can make an index. You need a moderator to make it sticky, I think. 8)

Angle of man's left arm in standard?
Swing in chasse?
Level 5 Weight Connection -- American Smooth and Standard

Are those the kinds of threads you mean? 8)

There are a bunch more. A lot recently -- tons of smart new DF posters. 8)

But I definitely must wait until at least Monday. Too ... much ... DF!!! *cough* *cough*

It's like those posts are taking over the WORLD... cluttering up our *quiet* (ahem) little forum.... What is the world COMING to?????

Could probably lump all the ballroom technique threads into the same section - or at least I wouldn't divide them too finely. Many of the smooth and standard ones meander across thout boundary.

The quality of the technique-related discussion here has gone through the roof lately. I'm pretty thrilled, actually. 8)

Seriously. The first six months I was here, it was like pulling teeth. Any fluff thread could go on for pages. But ask about technique, and you'd be lucky to get two replies. These days? On and on the technique threads go. It's pretty cool.

Things have changed for the better, IMO. 8)

Yes, we could easily write a book on it. The hardest part is coming up with a method organize the content. Any ideas?

Start a folder under ballroom (or a sticky whichever) that has a title of Technique & Styling Tips (or something similar), dumpt those kinds of threads in there and let it be a free for all. :)

I made a sticky at the top of the Ballroom Forum. Feel free to add to it as things come up.

The breakdown that pops into my mind is one sticky for Ballroom Technique (i.e., Standard and Smooth) and one for Latin Technique (i.e., Latin and Rhythm). Similar to the free for all DancingMommy suggested but with two categories. While there might be a lot of overlap between Standard and Smooth or Latin and Rhythm, the overlap between Ballroom and Latin, while it does exist, would be much less.

I'm not sure how many threads would make for comfortable categories, but I feel like I would be okay with 50 threads per category before I'd want to add more refined categories (especially if clear, uambiguous subjects are used). The less categories the better as long as the numbers are manageable. The category names I'd suggest would be:

Standard/Smooth Technique
Latin/Rhythm Technique
