Here are some commonly used abbreviations or expressions that I have come across in the forum. I'll give a short explanation of them below. Since I'm not a native english speaker I'll do the best I can. If you have a better explanation please fill it in!

BTW - By the way
LOL - Laughing out loud; Lots of luck
IMO - In my opinion
IMHO - In my humble opinion; In my honest opinion
ROTFL - Rolling on the floor laughing

"My two cents" - For what its worth, here's my opinion.

I found a large list of abbreviations here:
http://www.gaarde.org/acronyms/
Please do not use all of them!

Ok. I didn't see that! I just posted some abbreviations that I didn't know myself until recently, and I thought someone else maybe had the same problem.

Thanks pr. I've been hanging around the 'net so much that sometimes I forget. It's not too long ago that I didn't know any acronyms, either. One of the toughest for me to figure out was IIRC. Maybe that's because I never say, "if I recall correctly," in my normal speech? I don't know.  But that one took me the longest while to understand. *shrug*

I was thinking II = two, in Roman numerals. RC = radio control? resistive/capacitive? Huh?!? Really confusing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got stuck on abbreviations. I was to shy to ask for the meaning of them, because every one else in the forum seemed to know what they stands for.

It's like anything else, you just have to get familiar with them.

YMMV threw me at first.

YMMV? Looks like a cross between Hebrew and Roman numerals!

We use a lot of acronyms at work...it's absolutely insane. I didn't realize just how bad it was until I managed to describe my entire job in acronyms. The only full words I used were "a" and "the".

*** "What the Frack?"
LMTFA "Leave me the Fark Alone"
STFU "Shut the Frontdoor Up"

And, my FAVORITE:

"RTFM" "Read that Fabulous Manual"
